Building with pride

One LaRue County construction contractor has positioned his company to be a “one stop shop” when it comes to constructing any type of building.

John Bell Construction is a general contracting company that manages the day-to-day operations of a wide variety of building construction sites, including commercial and industrial.

Owner John Bell graduated from LaRue County High School in 2006 and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in communications. After working as a grain farmer for several years, Bell said he created John Bell Construction in October 2014 after he decided that he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.

“My dad (Doug Bell) has been doing this type of work since the 1980s and he also still works with me as an estimator for our projects,” Bell said. “I grew up around it and it’s like a second nature to me.”

Bell said that they manage the entire building process as they provide backhoe services and other building services. They subcontract services such as architecture, electrical, plumbing and other specialized fields involved in the construction process.

“The owner tells me what they want in a building and I procure drawings from architects and engineers,” Bell said. “I see them through the whole process and finalize everything.”

Bell said that they have completed a wide range of projects that include everything from barns, homes, home remodels/additions, warehouses and manufacturing plants.

“We just got done with our biggest project yet in Bowling Green and it was 108,000 square feet,” Bell said. “We have built offices, truck docks and a little bit of everything.”

John Bell Construction is also a family business with Bell’s father, Doug Bell, as an estimator while his mother Mona Bell and fiancé Kayla Gipson help run the office and bookkeeping side of the business.

Bell went on to say that his business would not be possible without his faith.

“God has been good to us and blessed us with more than we deserve,” Bell said. “He is smiling down on us and I hope he continues to do so.”
