Brewer finalist for Miss Kentucky Basketball

Former Lady Hawk Alexis Brewer, who now plays for Bardstown High School, is one of 18 Miss Kentucky Basketball finalists.

The Miss Basketball finalists were revealed last week when the Louisville-based Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation released the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches Senior Region Player of the Year list. Each Region Player of the Year, including ties, is a finalist.

Brewer, who played five seasons for LaRue County before transferring to Bardstown for her senior year, averaged 20.7 points and seven rebounds per game in her first 26 contests for the Lady Tigers (20-7) while shooting 80.5 percent from the foul line, 41.3 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from the arc.

The other finalists are Morgan Turner (Meade County), Reauna Cleaver (Elizabethtown), Hannah Dossett (Gallatin County), Kelsey Garcia (Inez Sheldon Clark), Dee Givens (Lexington Lafayette), J’Nayah Hall (Owensboro Apollo), Alex Hibbs (Louisville Presentation), Karlee Humphrey (Paducah Tilghman), Malerie Martin (Louisville Mercy), Ally Mayhaus (Covington Holy Cross), Cameron McPherson (Danville), Katie Moore (Leslie County), Maci Morris (Bell County), DeAsia Outlaw (Henderson County), Morgan Rich (Allen County-Scottsville), Alexis Robinson (Ashland Blazer) and Sandra Skinner (Winchester George Rogers Clark).

The voting ballot went out Friday, while coaches have until 9 a.m. Friday to submit their votes. The winner will be announced during the awards dinner at 6 p.m. March 17 at the Bluegrass Ballroom at the Lexington Center.
