Board to determine how funds will be distributed

-A A +A

LaRue County has been awarded federal funds in the amount of $6,689 under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program Phase 32.

The funds will supplement emergency food, rent or mortgage and utility assistance programs in the area.

The selection was made by a national board that is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It consists of representatives from the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Council of Jewish Federations, Catholic Charities, USA, and United Way of America.

A local board made up of representatives from the county judge/executive’s office, the Ministerial Association, American Red Cross, low income groups and other interested parties will determine how the funds will be distributed.

The board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds. In the past, LaRue County has distributed these funds with Central Kentucky Community Action.

Public or private voluntary organizations interested in applying for emergency food and shelter funds must contact LCCA at 270-358-3937 for applications.

The local board meeting is 10 a.m. March 18 at the courthouse.
