2019 Iron Horse Festival

The annual Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival will take place on Saturday, September 14 in New Haven, Kentucky. The festival will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a 5K Fun Run/Walk.

This year the festival will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven. The celebration will consist of a parade, arts and crafts, children’s activities, delicious foods, down-home family fun, train rides, gospel music, and concert events.

The 5K sponsored by Nelson County High School Cross Country will start the festival. To pre-register, contact the New Haven City Hall at 502-549-3177 by September 5. There will be awards for each age division winner.

The Local Artist Art Show will take place at the New Haven Public Library and will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 3 p.m. All submissions for the show are due September 13. The art show is for display only and is not a competition.

Opening ceremonies will start at 9:30 a.m. at the Town and Country Bank lot.

From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., gospel and inspirational music will be performed by local choirs and soloist Lauren Nallia.

From 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the Kentucky Railway Museum will open to the public and will feature student art, historical displays, and a train ride at 12 p.m.

A silent auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. at city hall, and will end at 6 p.m.

The Kidszone and Iron Horse Days Carnival will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All kidszone events will take place on School Street including games, sports challenges, and Bonkers Inflatable Fun. Inflatables will remain available until 5 p.m.

Various performances will take place on the main stage during the festival. Mister Magic will perform from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A Dance Exposition by Dance Pros Inc. will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. An Elvis and Meatloaf Tribute performance will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Krista Brady will perform from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The closing concert will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature The Endless Road Band.

At 2:15 p.m. the 2019 Iron Horse Festival Parade will take place. The theme for this year’s parade is “Clickity-Clack Down the Track.”
