15 charged with cruelty to animals

  Post 15 received an anonymous tip over the weekend regarding a possible cockfight in progress at a barn on Lee's Chapel Road, five miles west of Albany. Trooper Jason Warriner and Clinton County Sheriff Rick Riddle responded to the location and found a cockfight in progress. The ensuing investigation led to 23 chickens being taken by the Clinton County Animal Control office and 15 criminal arrests.

The following were all charged with cruelty to animals, second degree, and criminal trespassing, second degree: Cody Rhule, 19; Eric Rhule, 23; Ricky Rhule, 45; Tabatha Williams, 26; Kenneth Roberts, 39; Stanley Crabtree, 31, all of Monticello; Michael Parker, 28, of East Bernstadt; James Davis Jr., 47, of Edmonton; Kimberly Bridgman, 20, of Jacksonville, Illinois; Greg Winchester, 38, and Ronald Lawson, 51, of Glasgow; Tony Gaddie, 44, and Christopher Medcalfe, 25, both of Horse Cave; Shawn Abner, 23, of London; and Johnny Poynter, 45, of Cave City.

All were lodged in the Clinton County Jail.  The investigation is ongoing.
