    The LaRue County Lady Hawks varsity softball team manhandled the Casey County Lady Rebels on Friday, April 28.

    The game got ugly quick for Casey County as the Lady Hawks jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings and they led 10-5 after the fifth inning. The Lady Rebels would never score again as the Lady Hawks poured on two more runs.

    Kaitlyn Warnshuis had a double with two runs and an RBI. Kourtnee Davenport also had a double with two runs and Savia Brashear tripled to drive in two runs.

    Bad weather kept the Freshman Hawks off the diamond much of last week, but the Hawks were able to squeeze in a double-header last Wednesday, April 26 at Elizabethtown High School against the Elizabethtown Panthers.

    In the first game of the evening, the Hawks were defeated by a score of 10 – 0 as Derek Heath took the loss for the Hawks on the mound after tossing two innings. The Hawks were held hitless throughout the contest while committing three errors for the game.

    Former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl Champion Steve Young once said, “The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.” For senior Lady Hawks tennis player Autumn Riggs, it’s all about improving on a day to day basis, whether in the classroom or on the court.

    Riggs has been playing tennis the last two seasons as a doubles partner with Junior Sophie Akin. “I decided my junior year that I wanted to try something new and out of my comfort zone,” Riggs said.

  • 12U Hawks travel baseball - May...

    The 12U Hawks travel baseball team competed in the Elizabethtown Hitman Classic this past weekend falling to the eventual tournament champions in single elimination on Sunday, April 30.

    On Saturday, April 29 the Hawks lost to the Wolves by a score of 5 – 4. Caden Davis went 2-2 at the plate, while Carson Childress, Brandon Reed, Carsen DeVary, Luke Howell, and Tate Wootton collected one hit apiece. Brandon Reed hit his first travel homerun of the season with a shot over the left field fence.

  • Lady Hawks pound Caverna

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks varsity softball team put an end to their eight game losing streak after running away with the Caverna Lady Colonels on Friday, April 14 and beating them 24-5 after three innings.

    The Lady Hawks started the game scoring 10 runs in the first inning which included a three run double by Lindsey Shelton and a two run double by Jordan McClure. The second inning was just as big after Kaitlyn Warnshuis had a two run homerun.
