  • Mat Hawks go 3-2 at Tsunami Duals

    The LaRue County Wrestling team traveled to Meade County last Saturday to compete in the Tsunami Duals. Still down a few key starters, the Mat Hawks were able to go 3-2 on the day.

    The Mat Hawks lost their first dual meet of the season to Christian County and they are now 15-2 on the season in dual meets.

    Team results from the Tsunami Duals: won  39-38 vs. Louisville Central, lost 40-42 vs. Christian County, won  60-24 vs. Bishop Fenwick, lost 20-55 vs. Meade County and won  45-36 vs. Central Hardin.

    The LCHS freshman Lady Hawks had no games this past week. They are now 2-3 on the season and their next game is Monday, January 4 at home against Nelson County at 6 p.m.

    The Lady Hawks JV team had no games this past week and they are 1-4 on the season. Their next game is at home on Tuesday, January 5 against Adair County at 6 p.m.

    The LCHS Hawks JV team had no games this past week. They are now 1-2 on the season. Their next game is away at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5 against Campbellsville.

    Soccer registration

    LaRue County Youth Soccer Association Spring 2016 Registrations are from 10 a.m. to noon on January 16, 23 and 30 at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria. Registrations are for ages 2 to 18 and a birth certificate copy is required.

    Pickleball

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.

    LaRue County Park and Recreation Board

    The LaRue County Park and Recreation Board meets 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Park. For more information, call Eric DeVary 270-358-8386

  • LCMS Mat Hawks finish 6th

    The Mat Hawks ended the day with 4 wins and 2 losses as a team. The Mat Hawks defeated Central Hardin 54-21, and quickly followed that up with decisive wins over Woodland (66-18) and Boyle County (69-12).

    Going into the final round of pool play, the Mat Hawks once again had to wrestle North Oldham to advance to the final four. The Mat Hawks came up short in a few intensely contested matches, which propelled North Oldham to the win 57-24.

  • LCMS basketball wins district...

    LaRue County Middle School Basketball teams are both district champions.

    On Saturday, the Hawks hosted the 18th District Middle School Basketball Tournament.  The 7th grade Hawks defeated Green Co. 48-22 in their first game.  They jumped out to a 33-8 halftime lead and coasted to victory. The 8th grade also defeated Green Co. 46-30. The game was tied at halftime and the Hawks outscored the Dragons 29-13 in the second half to seal the victory.

    The LCHS freshman Lady Hawks played Bullitt Central last Thursday. They are now 2-3 on the season and their next game is Monday, January 4 at home against Nelson County at 6 p.m.

    The Lady Hawks JV team is now 1-4 on the season after playing North Hardin last Tuesday. Their next game is at home on Tuesday, January 6 against Adair County at 6 p.m.

  • Lady Hawks lose in Holiday...

    The LCHS Lady Hawks varsity basketball team lost to a Tennessee high school team in the McDonald’s Shootout last Saturday.

    The Lady Hawks were beat 73-45 by the Clay County Lady Bulldogs 73-45 of Celina, Tennessee. The Lady Hawks got off to a slow start as they trailed 13-5 at the end of the first quarter and 37-10 at halftime. The second half was better for the Lady Hawks as they cut the lead to 50-29 at the end of the fourth quarter. But the Lady Bulldogs would pull away in the fourth quarter with a final score of 73-45.
