  • LCHS tennis kick-off season
  • The Best Way

    Famous author, salesman and motivational speaker Zig Ziglar provided a quote that says “it’s your attitude, not your aptitude that will determine your altitude.” For senior tennis player Alex Best, he has consistently maintained a positive attitude throughout his high school career on the court and in the classroom as well.

    Best will enter his senior tennis season as the #1 singles player for the LaRue County Hawks tennis team. This is a completely different role for him as for the last four seasons he has been a part of the #1 doubles team.

  • 6th grade basketball finishes...

    The 6th grade travel Hawk’s basketball team ended their season last Monday, March 6 at Elizabethtown High School coming in second place in the A bracket of the end of the season tournament.

    The Hawks fell in defeat to Elizabethtown Gold in the championship game by a score of 28 to 37. Caden Davis had 16 points, Carson Childress had 5 points, Cutter Boley had 3 points, and Landon Colvin and Carsen DeVary had 2 points each.

    5K supports Relay for Life

    A community family event including a 5 K run/walk will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 8 at First Baptist Hodgenville located at 730 Tonieville Road in Hodgenville. The entry fee is $25 and supports Relay for Life. For more information contact the church at 270-358-3193.

  • LCMS volleyball nearing end of...

    As the regular season starts to wind down for the LCMS Volleyball Lady Hawks, the Lady Hawks had two homes games and one away game this past week.

    Last Monday, March 6, the Lady Hawks hosted Stuart Pepper Middle School and the 7th grade Lady Hawks fell in consecutive sets by the scores of 21-8 and 21-14. The 8th grade Lady Hawks found victory by defeating Stuart Pepper in consecutive sets by the scores of 21-6 and 21-13.

  • Hawks lose heartbreaker to...

    The season has come to an end for the LaRue County Hawks varsity basketball team after they fell to the Taylor County Cardinals 58-54 on Monday, March 6.

    The Hawks started the game great as they led 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, but the Cardinals came back to take the 29-28 lead at halftime. The third quarter was a dogfight as the Hawks managed to tie the game 38-38 at the end of the quarter, but the Cardinals managed to pull away and take the four point victory in the final quarter of the game.

    St Patrick’s Day 5K run/walk

    A 5K run/walk will be held in Elizabethtown on Saturday March 18. The event is open to the public, and benefits the athletes of Hardin County through the Special Olympics of Kentucky. Every participant will receive a custom finisher’s medal. Adult participants will receive a swag bag and t-shirt. Registration is $30.00 through March 12, and $35 March 13 through race day. Kid’s registration is $10 but does not include any swag. To register, visit www.stpatsday5k.com.

    LaRue/Nelson County 6th Grade Youth Basketball Action

    Tournament play wrapped up this past weekend with Team #1 winning their tournament bracket over Bardstown Team #3 by a score of 38 to 26. Tate Wootton led the team in scoring with 17 points and 3 rebounds, Curtis Ford had 11 points and 6 rebounds, Grayson White had 5 points and 3 rebounds, Jagger McBride had 2 points and 3 rebounds, Cameron Williams had 2 points and 5 rebounds, and Luke Howell had 8 rebounds.
