    St Patrick’s Day 5K run/walk

    A 5K run/walk will be held in Elizabethtown on Saturday March 18. The event is open to the public, and benefits the athletes of Hardin County through the Special Olympics of Kentucky. Every participant will receive a custom finisher’s medal. Adult participants will receive a swag bag and t-shirt. Registration is $30.00 through March 12, and $35 March 13 through race day. Kid’s registration is $10 but does not include any swag. To register, visit www.stpatsday5k.com.

  • Hawks win district

    The LaRue County Hawks basketball team are district champions after beating the Caverna Colonels 82-59 last Friday, February 24.

    It was the first district championship the Hawks have won since 2013-2014 season.

    The Hawks had control of the game from the start as they led 18-12 at the end of the first quarter and 36-30 at halftime.

  • Lady Hawks advance to region

    The Lady Hawks varsity basketball team advance to regions for the first time since the 2013-2014 season.

    The Lady Hawks beat the Hart County Lady Raiders 62-48 last Wednesday, February 22 to advance to the 18th district championship game and secure a spot in the region tournament.

    In the 1987-1988 basketball season, schools across the nation were asked to put an arc around the perimeter of each goal, awarding three points for each shot made behind that line.  This arc created a totally different style of play for high school basketball teams.

    For junior Mallory Williams and Lady Hawks Head Coach James Slaven, the style of play has blended nicely.

  • LCMS volleyball falls to East...

    The LaRue County Middle School Girls’ Volleyball team traveled to East Hardin Middle School last Thursday night, but victory escaped the Hawks as the 7th and 8th grade Lady Hawks as they fell in defeat to East Hardin Middle.

    The 7th grade Lady Hawks fell in defeat in two sets by the scores of 21-6 and 21-12. Coach Kendrick Bryan listed Brenna Southwood, Macie Sandidge, and Angelina Cruz as key players from the match with East Hardin.

    Tournament play continued this past week for all three LaRue County 6th grade youth teams participating in the Nelson County Youth Basketball League.

    The 6th grade Boy’s Travel team defeated E’town Blue this past Saturday at Elizabethtown High School by a score of 38 to 37.

    Luke Trumbo led the Hawks with 11 points, Caden Davis had 8, Carson Childress had 7, Landon Colvin had 6, Grayson White had 4, and Tommy Wilmoth had 2 points. The 6th grade Boy’s Travel team finished the regular season in the E’town League with a 7-1 record. Tournament play will begin Saturday, March 4 with times to be announced.
