  • Arnette chosen for tourney

    Bryson Arnette, 13, of Hodgenville was recently selected as one of 2,550 players in the country to play baseball in the Disney New Year’s Baseball Classic tournament in Orlando, Florida on December 30, 2015 to January 2, 2016.

    Arnette was selected by scouts and coaches after he participated in GameDay USA All-Star weekend in Cincinnati on August 1 and 2. To qualify, Arnette participated in a home run derby and a skills evaluation that included exit velocity off the bat and pitching velocity.

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks volleyball team is 5-6 on the season after finishing 2-2 in the Hillard Lyons Fall Classic in Elizabethtown on Saturday, September 5. Their next match is away on Thursday, September 10 against Green County at 6: 30 p.m.

    Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival Annual Fun Run/Walk

    The Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival along with the Thomas Nelson Cross Country Team will be hosting their Annual Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 12. If you are interested in participating, please register online at www.newhaven.ky.gov or pick up a form at New Haven City Hall. Pre-Registration is $15 and is due by September 9. Registration after September 9 is $20.

  • Nunn continues to break records

    When one shows up at a LaRue County High School girls soccer game for the first time it doesn’t take long to ask the question: “Who is number 10?” Number 10 is junior striker Gillian Nunn, and has recently become the Lady Hawks all-time goal scorer with 52 goals in her career and she is not done yet!

  • Hawks beat Russell County

    The LaRue County Hawks varsity football team won their first game of the season last Friday night after beating the Russell County Lakers 20-14.

    The Hawks picked up their first win in a dramatic fashion as sophomore quarterback Dane Milby had more than 300 passing yards and two Hawks players had more than 100 yards receiving each.

    The Hawks were the first to get on the scoreboard with a three yard touchdown pass from Milby to receiver Kane Harris. The two point conversion failed making the score 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

    The LaRue County High School Girls Volleyball is supporting the American Cancer Society with the 8th annual “ Volley For The Cure” Tuesday, September 15 at LaRue County High School Gymnasium. The cost is $5 per person.

    Freshman, JV and Varsity teams will all play Taylor County with the first game starting at 5:30 p.m.
