  • Trying everything out

    Actress Evangeline Lilly said “The world is full of opportunities, and I want to try as many as I possibly can.” Lady Hawk’s volleyball and cheerleader Katelynn Lafollette could say the same.

    Lafollette has been involved with the volleyball program for the last four years and the cheer program for the last seven years. She is also involved in other activities at LCHS, including the high school choir program and the track team.

  • LCMS basketball hits tough...

    The LCMS Lady Hawks entered into a tough stretch of their schedule this past week as the Lady Hawks played three games in a span of four days that included a home game with the Bluegrass Middle, and two road games at J.T.Alton Middle and East Hardin Middle.

    On Monday, September 18, the 7th grade Lady Hawks kicked off the evening of basketball as they hosted the Lady Bulldawgs of Bluegrass Middle School.

    The Lady Hawks are now 11-2-1 on the season. They played Spencer County on Monday and the results of that game will be featured in the October 4 edition of The LaRue County Herald News. Their next game is away this Thursday against Atherton at 6 p.m.

    Railspliter Run 5K and 10K

    The Railsplitter 5K and 10K run will take place during Lincoln Days at 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 8.

    The adult entry fee for the 5K is $35. The student fee is $15 each. The adult entry fee for the 10K is $45. The student fee for the 10K is also $15 each. To register visit www.lincolndays.org or call 270-358-8710.

    St. Jude golf scramble

    The tenth annual St. Jude Charity Bar “B” Que dinner, auction and golf scramble will take place on Saturday, October 21 at the LaRue County Country Club.

    The golf scramble will begin at noon. Entry fees are $240 per team and $60 per player. Pulled pork dinners will be served for $9 each from 4 to 7:30 p.m., dine-in or carry-out.

  • Hawks dominate Hart Co. 54-13

    The LCHS Hawks varsity football team took care of business against the Hart County Raiders on Friday, September 15 with a decisive 54-13 win.

    The win kept the Hawks undefeated on the season with a 5-0 record.

    A lot of football fans would look at the score and think the Hawks ran a lot of plays and picked up a lot of yards on offense. However that was not the case at all.

    The Hawks only ran 29 plays on offense and had 321 total yards on offense with 183 yards rushing and 139 yards passing. They also picked up 115 yards on kickoff and punt returns.
