    The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Barons women soccer team will host open field play at Nicholas Street soccer fields 5:30-7:30 p.m. every Thursday through June 9. Any women interested in trying out for the team are welcome and encouraged to participate.

    Jaden McBride threw out the first pitch April 21 at LaRue County Park and Recreation’s opening ceremony. Jaden is the 7-year-old son of James and Kacey McBride of Hodgenville. He is in kindergarten at Hodgenville Elementary. Jaden has cerebral palsy and has undergone two open-heart and numerous brain surgeries.

    Throughout sports history successful programs have adopted the TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) concept. For junior Lady Hawk Softball player Jill Hughes, it’s all about the team. 

    As a youngster Hughes was surrounded by baseball and softball as she would attend her dad’s (Eric Hughes, former head baseball coach at LaRue County High School) games, along with her older brother (Cole Hughes), as well as her own softball games. Through these experiences she quickly learned the team concept.

  • SOFTBALL: Ladies beat Bethlehem

     LARUE COUNTY 4, BETHLEHEM 3. Freshman Presley Brown’s two-run double in the top of the first helped the visiting Lady Hawks (9-7) hold off the Banshees (11-5) for their fifth win in seven games.

    Sophomore Chasity Bryant’s RBI single in the sixth extended LaRue County’s lead to 4-0.

    Bethlehem cut it to 4-3 in its half of the sixth, but LaRue County senior Emillee Cundiff ended the comeback attempt with a strikeout. Cundiff struck out seven and gave up four hits, two walks and one earned run.
