    What do you get when you cross tennis, ping-pong and badminton? Why, Pickleball that’s what! According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2015 Participant Report, pickleball currently has 2.46 million players.

  • Hawks dominate Fort Knox

    The LaRue County Hawks beat the Fort Knox Eagles 56-0 during their homecoming game last Friday night.

    The Hawks offense firing on all cylinders as they gained 293 total yards with 268 yards rushing and 25 yards passing. The Hawks defense also had their best game of the year as they held the Eagles to -43 total yards on offense with -43 rushing yards and 0 passing yards.

    The Annual Jack Mitchell Invitational was held Thursday, October 1 in Hodgenville. Fourteen area schools participated with teams ranging from elementary to varsity.

    In the elementary boys division, fifth grader Gabe Fortier set a personal best record of 10:25 and fourth grader Jamie Grimes came in fourth with a time of 11:18 in the 1.5 mile. Overall, LaRue’s elementary boys captured first place. In the elementary girl division, Josie Garris placed fourth, and rookie runners Izabelle Childress placed 5th and Emily Detre came in 6th.

  • Thomas is leading by example

    Leadership can sometimes be misinterpreted among players, coaches and fans.  Most of us assume that leaders are typically the most talented players, the most vocal, or the ones who receive the most recognition. For senior Nichole Thomas, she has been most comfortable providing leadership by the example displayed on the playing field.

    “Nichole always brings calm and balance to the team,” LCHS girls soccer Head Coach Becky Hawkins said. “Exhibiting leadership under pressure-like situations.”

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.
