    At the last meeting of the Hodgenville Rotary Club, the LaRue County Superintendent of Schools took an opportunity to issue a challenge to the high school wrestling team. 

    “Win the 2010 state tournament and bring home to LaRue County its first ever KHSAA state title.”

    “Mr. Sanders asked Eddie and I to bring a few wrestlers and speak to the Rotary about our program,” said head coach Gary Canter. “After we spoke, Mr. Sanders got up and looked at the wrestlers we brought and issued the challenge.”

  • Hawks outfly Eagles 69-52

    The LaRue County Hawks varsity basketball team defeated for the second time this season the North Bullitt Eagles in convincing fashion Jan. 26. The Hawks played one of their better games of the year shooting almost 50 percent from the floor on 27 of 55 attempts and placing four players in double figures. 

  • Heartland Flyers perform at...

    The Heartland Flyer Junior Cheerleading squad performed at Jamfest Super Nationals in Indianapolis Jan. 16-17. They took first in their Small Gym Level 2, Small Junior division. The Junior squad is composed of girls 8-15 years old.  Emily Miller, fourth-grader at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, is a member of this squad.

  • State Duals canceled for second...

    For the second year in a row, the wrestling State Duals were canceled due to inclement weather.

    The second-ranked LaRue County Mat Hawks, along with 15 other teams, were to battle for the title Saturday at Lexington Henry Clay. LaRue County was expected to draw one of the top four seeds. The team has won four championships in 1999, 2001, 2006 and 2007; finished third in 2000, 2004 and 2005; finished fourth in 1998 and 2002; and placed fifth in 2003.

  • Lady Hawks break losing streak...

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks improved their record to 11-9 on the season with a 52-35 win over visiting Louisville Presentation Jan. 27. Presentation fell to 5-11 for the season.

    The Lady Hawks jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the first quarter and led 30-15 at halftime. The team scored 13 points in the third quarter and nine points in the fourth quarter.

    Head coach Travis Wootton called the game a much-needed win.

    Wrestlers compete at State Duals

    The LaRue County High School Mat Hawks will compete at State Duals Jan. 30 at Lexington Henry Clay.

    Make-up basketball games

    The Lady Hawks play at Green County Feb. 1. JV game begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by varsity at 8 p.m.  The Hawks play at Green County Feb. 8. JV begins at 6:30 p.m. followed by varsity at 8 p.m.

  • Hawks defeat region rivals 56-51

    It felt like tournament time Jan. 22 when the Central Hardin Bruins came to invade the LaRue County Hawks’ territory in Hodgenville. It was a tough battle the entire game as LaRue County jumped out to an early lead and lead 31-17 at the half.

    Central Hardin came back in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 13-3 to keep the game close, but the Hawks won 56-51.
