  • Blue-White Night features...

    The 2008-09 Hawks and Lady Hawks will kickoff the upcoming basketball season Friday with a Blue/White Night at LaRue County High School gym.

    A chili supper will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the high school cafeteria followed by the Blue/White activities in the gym.

    Both the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs will introduce their middle school teams as well as the freshmen through varsity squads. The boys’ varsity team will have an intrasquad scrimmage.

  • Ryan Durbin finishes 66th at...

    LaRue County High School junior cross country runner Ryan Durbin finished the Class AA boys' state cross country meet Saturday in 66th in the field of 237.

    His time in the five-kilometer race at the Kentucky Horse Park was 18:14.78.

    Durbin recorded his best time ever the previous Saturday to take third in the Class AA, Region 2 championship at First Baptist Church in Hodgenville. His time in the regional meet was 18:09:57.

    “It was on my home course, so I pulled away from the pack right at the very beginning,” Durbin said.

  • Bowling Green downtown stadium...

    It was a busy week for construction crews in Bowling Green’s new downtown ballpark. After months of trucks and concrete dominating the scene, it finally started to look like a baseball field inside the stadium.

  • Soccer boosters hold benefit...

    The LaRue County High School soccer boosters are hosting Bunco 7 p.m. Thursday at the high school cafeteria. Light refreshments will be provided. Cost is $10.

  • JV completes perfect season

    LaRue County High School’s junior varsity football team finished the 2008 season undefeated, winning all eight games they played.

    The young Hawks devoured most of their opponents, with the largest point spread 42 points when they ravaged Fort Knox 50-8 in their home season opener Sept. 1. 

    Their closest encounter was the following week, when they surfed past the Green Wave of Meade County 14-12. Other victims included Green County 22-6, North Bullitt 30-18, Central Hardin 32-6, Bardstown 42-20, Bullitt East 40-7, and Bullitt Central 38-6.

  • Girls invited to softball camp...

    A softball camp for girls 12 and younger is Saturday. Lady Hawk coach Mielle DiStefano and staff will work this camp for players and coaches.

  • LaRue defeats Warren East 28-26...

    LaRue County High School edged host Warren East 28-26 to end the Hawks’ regular varsity football season Friday night in Bowling Green.

    Sophomore running back Alex Lee ran for two touchdowns in the second quarter, the first on a four-yard run and the second coming on a 26-yard pass from junior quarterback Lucas Chaudoin.

    Chaudoin’s second scoring pass, a nine-yard completion to junior quarterback Tyler Hornback with 9:25 remaining in the game, put LaRue ahead for good.

  • Youth football team succeeds

    LaRue County's all-star 9-and-under football team finished second in the Jessamine County Cup.

  • Little League basketball signups...

    LaRue County Boys Little League Basketball for kindergarten through 6th grade will have signups from 9-11 a.m. Nov. 8,  and 6-7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the high school cafeteria.

    Registration is K-3, $35; 4-6th, $45. Scholarships are available. Forms will be passed out at local schools or you can pick one up on day of registration.

  • Hawks defeat Warren East

    LaRue County snapped its losing streak Friday with a 28-26 win at Warren East.

    The Hawks, who play at Valley as the playoff season opens next week, displayed a dominating ground game, gaining more than 200 yards rushing.

    Recording their first win since Sept. 19, the Hawks improved to 4-6 on the season.
