  • Lady Hawks track team begins...

Like the sage who said a 1,000-mile journey begins with a single step, Lady Hawks girls’ track coach Laura Kudrna is counting on her charges attaining small goals that will enable them to meet larger ones.
“Our goal for the season is to beat our previous time,” said the Hodgenville Elementary School fifth-grade teacher in her second year as coach. “I don’t care if it’s a 10th of a second off the previous time; every little bit helps and counts.”

  • Hawks prepare to multi-task as...

Multi-tasking will be the major descriptor of this season’s Hawks boys track team under new coach Drew Simpson.
“The number of students we have on the team is our strength and weakness,” said Simpson, who substitute teaches for the LaRue County school system. “We have a small high school team and because of that all of my athletes have to compete in four events.”
Perhaps because of the few number of athletes, however, he has found a more personal team, one with heart and a lot of determination, he said.

  • Hawks ready for game changes

With six starting seniors and one junior returning from last season’s 24-9 team, LaRue County’s Hawks varsity baseball team looks to be on deck for another winning season.
“I think pitching will be our biggest strength at the end of the year once we are at full strength,” said Chris Price, eight-year head coach who said he’s relinquishing his coaching position at the end of this season in order to pursue a Rank I (post master’s degree certification) in administration.
