  • Hawks take wins from Hart, Green...

    The LaRue County Hawks varsity baseball team played three games last week winning all three and improving its record to 12-7. They beat the Hart County Raiders 6-2, the Green County Dragons 2-1 in eight innings and the Marion County Knights 8-1.

    Saturday‘s game against John Hardin was halted in the second inning because of rain with the score tied 6-6. There are no plans to reschedule the game.

    The LaRue County Hawks varsity baseball team had four big games last week and finished the week with a 2-2 record. They started out with an incredible comeback against a good North Bullitt team winning 8-6 in eight innings April 12. They were down 6-2 in the seventh inning but yet came out with a victory.

    Saddle Club events

    The LaRue County Saddle Club will have a general membership meeting 7 p.m. April 22 at the Club. The group will meet for a work day at the Club 1 p.m. April 24. The first fun show of the season begins at 1 p.m. April 25. For more information, call Jennifer Warner at 358-9695.

  • Lady Hawks plan to honor role...

    Do you know anyone that has made a major impact in your life? This person plays an important role in your life as well as the life of others, and is looked to as a hero. The 2010 Lady Hawks Softball Team wants to recognize such people who live in LaRue County.

    The Lady Hawks broke John Hardin’s four-game winning streak April 12 with an 8-7 victory at home. The team jumped out to an 8-1 lead and depended on their defense and pitching to notch their seventh victory of the season.

    Youth Soccer Association to meet

    The LaRue County Youth Soccer Association meets every third Tuesday of the month at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in the guidance room. The next meeting is April 20.

    Youth girls’ softball is seeking umpires for the upcoming season. Those interested should call Regina Devers after 4 p.m. at 234-6217.

  • Lady Hawks good sports after...

    The Lady Hawks traveled to Panama City Beach last week to take on Bay County’s finest teams. They came back with one win and three losses, but learned a valuable lesson – a softball game is not life and death, it’s simply just a game.

  • KHSAA seeks new board member

    The Kentucky Department of Education is seeking an individual to serve on the Kentucky High School Athletics Association Board of Control to fill a vacant position.

    The KHSAA is the Kentucky Board of Education’s designee to manage statewide interscholastic athletic programs. The Board of Control supervises KHSAA, establishes staff salaries, sets goals for the association and has the authority to set rules and review proposed changes to the KHSAA constitution and bylaws.
