Senior halfback Cody Thompson had 2.5 sacks, returned a fourth-quarter kickoff for a score and carried the ball 22 times for 354 yards and four more touchdowns as the LaRue County Hawks clinched a home playoff berth with a 57-44 win Friday night at Class 3-A, District 3 rival Elizabethtown.

The host Panthers (0-8 overall, 0-2 district) took the lead twice in the fourth quarter on a pair of conversion receptions from senior Matt Morgan, who caught 16 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns. However, Thompson answered immediately the next time the Hawks touched the ball.

Behind the powerful hitting of senior Kayla McFee, the Green County Lady Dragons spiked their way to their ninth straight district championship.

McFee had 10 of Green County's 26 total kills as the Lady Dragons knocked off tournament host LaRue County, 25-10, 25-16 in the 18th District Volleyball Tournament championship Tuesday in Hodgenville.
