  • Mat Hawks perform well at state

    The LaRue County Wrestling Team capped a great season at the KHSAA State Wrestling Championships this past Friday and Saturday.

    The Hawks finished 16th Place as a team overall and 7th in the small school division and had three individual state placers. The Hawks wrestled well throughout the tournament with every qualifying wrestler winning a match on day 1.

  • Girls, boys basketball district...

    The Lady Hawks and Hawks basketball teams started tournament play at Caverna this week. Both teams played Hart County in the first round of the 18th District Tournament on Tuesday, February 20. A first round win would put each team in the 5th region tournament set to begin next week.

    The 18th District girls basketball championship game will take place on Thursday, February 22 at 7 p.m. EST. The 18th district boys basketball championship game will take place on Friday, February 23 at 7 p.m. EST.

  • LCMS volleyball hawks play West...

    The LCMS Lady Hawks Volleyball team hosted the Lady Lakers from West Hardin Middle on Tuesday, February 6 as the two teams met for the first time in the young volleyball season.

    The 7th grade Lady Hawks tipped off the night taking the first set in dominating fashion by a score of (21-7). The second set was much closer as both teams fought hard for the victory but it was the Lady Hawks that pulled away for a (21-15) victory in the second set that sealed the sweep for the Lady Hawks.

    Youth baseball and softball signups

    LaRue County Youth baseball and softball signups will be held on February 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria. The ages are 3-15 for youth baseball and ages of 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U for youth softball. Baseball prices are as followed: T-ball (3-4 yrs) $50, Peanut (5-6 yrs) $70, Rookie (7-8 yrs) $70, Minor (9-10 yrs) $70, Major (11-12 yrs) $70 and Babe Ruth (13-15 yrs) $75.   • Mat Hawks win region championship

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks did what they were supposed to do on Saturday, February 10 at Owensboro High School: win the Region 2 Wrestling Tournament. The Hawks advanced six in the finals and won four championship matches, and proceeded to run away from the competition, accumulating 214.5 points.

    It was back-to-back championships for Head Coach Eric Burrell, and the Hawks sixth in the last nine years. In fact, the Hawks have won 15 region championships out of the last 20 seasons.

  • Five Hawks sign to play college...

    History was made last week as five Hawks signed to play college football next year.

    The five seniors signed with their respective college teams during a ceremony at LaRue County High School on Wednesday, February 7. The signings broke school history as it was the most Hawks in a graduating class to sign to play college football.

    Jaxon Boley signed to play football for the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie, Wyoming. The Cowboys are a division one football school in the Mountain West conference.

  • Hawks win two more

    The Hawks continue to make their regular season even more spectacular as they picked up two more wins this past week.

    The Hawks made their homecoming sweet with a 63-42 win over the Taylor County Cardinals.

    The Hawks struggled at the beginning of the game as the Cardinals took a 7-2 lead, but the Hawks went on a 6-0 run to end the first quarter with an 8-7 lead.

    The Hawks started playing better in the second quarter as they outscored the Cardinals 19-11 to take a 27-18 lead into halftime.

  • Strong Start for LCMS volleyball

    On Monday, February 5, the Lady Hawks entertained the Lady Waves of Stuart Pepper Middle as the Hawks looked to build on their impressive season opening wins.
