  • Meredith sets record

    Madeline Meredith competed in the Kentucky 12U Long Course Meters State Championships July 15-17 at the University of Louisville.

    Meredith won gold in the 50 meter backstroke with a time of 30.94 seconds which set a new Kentucky state record for that age group giving her five Kentucky state records and one Eastern Section Southern Zone record.

    Meredith also won gold medals in the 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter freestyle. She won silver in 100 meter backstroke and bronze in the 100 meter breaststroke.

    Bluegrass Cell 5K walk/run

    The Bluegrass Cellular 5K is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27 at the Bluegrass Cellular Headquarters in Elizabethtown. The cost is $20 until August 20 and then the cost is $30 until the day of the race. The one-mile run/walk is $15. For more information call Sally George at 502-815-3304.

    Over the next ten months LaRue County High School’s 14 athletic programs will play host to nearly 150 regular season events at the varsity, junior varsity and freshman levels. This community is very fortunate to have such loyal Hawk fans. I have mentioned before that LaRue County Athletic events are typically well attended compared to other schools.

    Annual Boys in Blue Kickoff

    The second annual Boys in Blue Kickoff will take place at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at the LCHS football field in Hodgenville. The free event will include an alumni flag football game and interactive competitions. It will also include a pep rally by the LCHS cheerleaders as well as introductions of the little league, middle school and high school football players.

    Annual Fun Run/Walk

    The Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival along with Thomas Nelson Cross Country Team will be hosting their Annual Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, September 10. If you are interested in participating, please download a registration form at www.newhaven.ky.gov or pick up a form at New Haven City Hall. Pre-Registration is $15 and is due by September 9. Registration after Sept. 9 will be $20.
