  • Lady Hawks lose in opening round

    The Lady Hawks varsity softball team lost to the Green County Lady Dragons 13-4 in the first round of the 18th District Tournament on Tuesday, May 23.

    Things were looking good for the Lady Hawks early in the game as they led 3-2 in the top of the second inning, but the Lady Dragons took command of the game going into the third inning. The Lady Dragons scored three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to take command of the game with a 12-3 lead at the beginning of the sixth inning.

    Pickleball LaRue County

    Pickleball is being played at 5:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays at the Board of Education gym on College Street. Pickleball is free to anyone interested in learning the sport, a combination of tennis and ping-pong. All equipment provided.

  • Hawks get 20 wins

    The Hawks varsity baseball team finished the regular season with a 20-14 record this past week, making it the third straight year the Hawks have finished the season winning at least 20 games.

    The Hawks started this past week by rallying from seven runs down in the sixth inning to beat the Glasgow Scotties 13-10 on Monday, May 15.

    The Hawks scored their final ten runs in the last two innings of the game which included a two run home run from Dalton Skaggs.

  • Lady Hawks finish 17-13

    The Lady Hawks varsity softball team finished the regular season losing their last two games ending their regular season with a 17-13 record.

    The Lady Hawks lost a close 11-10 game to Campbellsville on Monday, May 15.

    Trailing 11-2 after two innings, the Lady Hawks attempted to make a comeback in the fifth putting up eight runs, but it wouldn’t be enough as they lost by one run in seven innings.

  • Glow Run rescheduled

    The annual LaRue County Track and Cross-Country 5K Glow Run/Walk has been rescheduled to 8:45 p.m. on Friday, June 2 at the LaRue County High School cross country course.

    The race was originally scheduled for April 22, but it was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

    The race will start and end at the high school. LaRue County student fees are $20 each and out of county students or adult fees are $50 each.

    The News Enterprise held their sixth annual Select Preps Banquet on Friday, May 12 honoring student-athletes from around the area including seven local schools.

    LaRue County, John Hardin, North Hardin, Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, Fort Knox and North Hardin Christian were the schools being recognized for student-athletes outstanding athletic performance, along with academic success, student involvement and volunteer work.

  • Lady Hawks turn things around

    After starting this week off with a tough shutout loss, the Lady Hawks varsity softball team ended the week with two big wins of their own.

    The Lady Hawks started this past week off on a bad note as they were scoreless in the game against the Central Hardin Lady Bruins on Monday, May 8. They lost by a score of 15-0 in four innings.

    The Lady Hawks didn’t have any hits or runs in the game. Pitcher Sara Jo Calhoun took the loss in the game as she gave up 14 hits, 15 runs and had two strikeouts.
