  • Hawks return to winning

    After losing four straight games, the Hawks returned to the winning ways in big fashion with three wins this past week.

    The Hawks beat Meade County 65-53 in the Nathan McCurry Classic last Saturday, January 28.

    The Green Wave led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter but the Hawks came back in the second quarter and led 27-20 at the end of the half. In the third quarter, the Hawks continued their strong play and led 50-38 at the end of the quarter. The Hawks made their free throws in the fourth quarter to get the 12 point lead.

  • Lady Hawks pick up two wins

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks varsity basketball team picked up two wins this past week after beating Spencer County Lady Bears and Caverna Lady Colonels.

    During the game against the Lady Bears, the Lady Hawks came back to win in overtime 75-66.

  • Mat Hawks finish top five in...

    The LaRue County Hawks varsity wrestling team finished in the top five of the state duals of the small school division last Saturday, January 28 at Lindsey Wilson College.

    The Mat Hawks finished fourth out of 12 teams throughout the state. Team results: LaRue County 72 Boyd County 9, LaRue County 49 Trigg County 26, Wayne County 39 LaRue County 33 and Walton Verona 41 LaRue County 23.

    Aside from performing good as a team, the Mat Hawks also had a good showing individually.

  • LCMS volleyball starts season

    The LaRue County Middle School volleyball team opened their new season at home last Thursday night against conference rival East Hardin Middle School.

    The 7th grade Lady Hawks opened the night by falling in straight sets, 21-8, and 21-14.

    “We lost to a very good program. We will grow as a team and I am very excited about the progress we will make,” said Head Coach Kendrick Bryan. “We need to get better at serve receive and being quicker to base position.”

  • 6th grade youth basketball...

    Team #1 fell to East Hardin Red this past Saturday by a score of 47 to 18. Tate Wootton led the team in scoring with 12 points and 1 rebound, Grayson White had 6 points and 3 rebounds, Patrick Butterworth had 2 rebounds, Luke Howell, Scott Bryant, Ryan Clark, and Cameron Williams had 1 rebound each. Team #1 presently has a 2-5 record on the season.

  • Never give up

    “No matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up, and never give up.” For most people this is certainly easier said than done. Senior Lady Hawks basketball player Katelyn Boone has adopted this philosophy over the last four years, all the while with an infectious smile on her face.

    In 2015, Boone was looking forward to stepping into a productive role for the 2015-2016 Lady Hawks. However, one afternoon in early November, that optimism was put on hold as she suffered a season-ending ACL injury.

  • LCHS boys JV and freshman...

    LaRue Co. 39 vs. Bullitt central 32 1/28/17

    The Hawks played Bullitt Central in the Nelson County 9th grade tournament last weekend and they played one of their best games of the year. The Hawks jumped out to a 24-19 lead at the half. They built their lead up to as many as 10 in the second half. The Hawks were patient on offense and scrappy on defense in the second half to come away with the 7 point victory. The Hawks are 7-7 on the year.

    Scoring: Chase Childress 16, Warner Bryan 7, Chance Bowen 6, Jacob Sandidge 6 and Andrew Coulter 4

    LaRue Co. 24 vs. Bethlehem 29 1/25/17

    Scoring: Katelyn Eads 7 points, Kelsey Hornback 6 points, Bella Thurman 6 points and Emma Moore 3 points. The Lady Hawks are now 4-7 on the season.

    The 8th grade Hawks faced J.T. Alton in the second round of the Boy’s 8th Grade Conference Tournament at Fort Knox last Monday, January 23.

    The Hawks came away victorious in an over-time thriller by a score of 36 to 35. The Hawks were led in scoring by Kaleb Graham with 14, Jeremiah Belton had 8, Sebastian Perkins had 5, Evan Morris had 4, Brooks Brackett had 3, and Connor Baker had 2.

  • Larue/nelson county 6th grade...

    The LaRue County 6th grade boy’s teams were in action last Saturday playing in the Nelson county area.

    Team #2 pulled out a close win over Bardstown #2 by a score of 37 to 33. Landon Colvin had 10 points and 14 rebounds, Jacob Hunter had 10 points and 4 rebounds, Carsen Childress had 8 points and 1 rebound, Damian Vittitoe had 4 points and 1 rebound, Carsen DeVary had 3 points and 6 rebounds, Ethan Sullivan had 2 points and 2 rebounds, and Aaron Silva had 2 rebounds. Team #2 presently has a (5-1) record on the season.
