  • Marion runs by LaRue 33-7

LaRue County dropped its first district football game to fifth-ranked Marion County Friday night 33-7 at home in nasty, wet conditions in Hodgenville.

The Knights, known for their aggressive running attack led by Dylan Peterson, came in to Hodgenville appearing evenly matched.

“It’s like looking at yourself in the mirror when you ask about Marion,” Assistant Coach Kelly Sandidge said, “It was a matter of whoever won the trenches won the game.”

  • Lady Hawks earn place in...

The LaRue County Lady Hawks volleyball team came out firing on all cylinders against the Hart County Lady Raiders Monday night, Oct. 12, winning in straight sets 25-16 and 25-22.

“This is a big win for our program as it now qualifies us for the regional tournament for the fourth consecutive year,” Coach Ben Schell said. “We aren’t satisfied simply getting to the district championship game, though. Our kids set the goal early on this season of winning our first district championship.”

  • Green wins girls’ golf...

Green County won the girls' state golf championship Sunday at Bowling Green Country Club with a combined score of 689, which was seven strokes better than second-place Sacred Heart.

St. Xavier won the boys' team title earlier in the week by one stroke over Lexington Christian. Henry Clay was third, followed by Elizabethtown High.

The Leachman/KHSAA State Golf Tournaments were held at Bowling Green Country Club.

  • Marion trips LaRue in district...

Marion County slowed LaRue County's ground game and captured a 33-7 district football victory Friday night in Hodgenville.

In their first seven games of the season, the Hawks averaged 30 points per game but were limited to a single touchdown by the Knights.

LaRue still has a shot to host a first-round playoff game. The Hawks can finish second in the Class 4-A Region 1, District 4 race with a win Friday, Oct. 23, at Bullitt East. Both teams are now 1-1 in district play after the Chargers defeated North Bullitt.
