  • Campbellsville cheerleaders...

    The award-winning Campbellsville University Cheerleaders will hold co-ed cheer and mascot tryouts for the 2011-12 season April 30 in the Powell Athletic Center.
    According to Coach Vanessa Adkins, there will also be a cheerleading clinic prior to tryouts 6-8:30 p.m. April 29.
    Tryouts will be held 10 a.m.
    The university cheerleaders have won two Mid-South Conference championships in the last four years.

  • Padgett takes fifth for Tigers

    Former LaRue County standout Truman Padgett, who runs for the Campbellsville University Tigers, was fifth in the 400-dash in their outdoor season opener at the nine-team Hanover College Invitational in Hanover, Ind. last week.
    Padgett is a member of the Tigers’ seventh-place 1,600 relay and fifth-place 400-relay.

  • Lady Hawks topple Taylor, conk...

    The LaRue County High School Lady Hawks went 2-1 last week with a solid 10-1 win over Caverna March 28, a heartstopper (12-13) win over Taylor County and a 0-5 loss to Bullitt East.
    “This past week, our girls faced a lot of adversity and overcame it,” said first-year coach Aaron Howell. “We are slowly coming together as a team.”

    Freshman Bridgette Skaggs had a good day inside the circle and at the plate as the Lady Hawks cruised past the Lady Colonels.

  • Hawks lose by 1 to Nelson County

    The LaRue County Hawks Baseball Team suffered two losses in their first two games of the season to the Nelson County Cardinals on March 22 (8-7) and the Elizabethtown Panthers March 24 (4-0).

  • Baseball: Hawks defeat...

    The Hawks (2-2) picked up their first wins of the season with victories over Campbellsville in the Purple Pride Leadoff Classic at Campbellsville University on Saturday and Bethlehem on Friday night.
    Sophomore Slade Owens went 4-for-4 with four RBIs to lead the Hawks past Campbellsville, 14-8, in the Purple Pride Leadoff Classic at Campbellsville University.
    Juniors Jesse Johnson, Kyle Meredith and Steven Carpenter and sophomore Cole Hughes each collected two hits for the Hawks, who had 14 hits.
