  • Hawks defeat Hart 70-54

    The LaRue County Hawks hosted the Hart County Raiders Friday night in the second game of their regular season matchups. The Hawks had a narrow escape in Munfordville in December with a 53-51 win. The Raiders, an up-and-down team which recently defeated Green County, were looking for some payback. 

    After a strong week of practice where Coach Paul Childress pointed out what the team needed to improve, LaRue County found its defensive edge again, constantly harassing Hart County and disrupting what the Raiders wanted to do.

  • Lady Hawks fall 49-31

    LaRue County fell victim to Central Hardin's inside attack Friday and lost the girls' varsity game 49-31.

    The Lady Hawks gave up 18 to Central center Katie Fritts and were outrebounded 37-26.

    LaRue scored the first goal but never led again. Lyndsay Whitlock recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds to led the team.

  • Mat Hawks earn No. 1 seed at...

    The Mat Hawks traveled to Danville last weekend and continued their regional dominance by defeating every regional team and claimed the number one seed from Region 2 for the 2009 State Duals championship.

    The top two teams in each region will compete for the title Jan. 31 in Lexington.

    Last year, John Hardin ended the Mat Hawks’ win streak over regional teams.  This year, John Hardin is ranked sixth in the state while the Mat Hawks are ranked fifth. Friday night’s dual looked to be another close affair. 

  • Silent auction benefits wrestlers

    A silent auction is planned from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the LaRue County High School gym lobby during the middle school regional wrestling tournament. All proceeds benefit the high school and middle school wrestling programs.

     

  • Hawks down Spencer County

    The LaRue County High School boys’ basketball team broke a two-game losing streak Jan. 13 with a defeat of Spencer County, 82-72.

    Senior forward Bryan Bault scored 29 points and had seven rebounds as the visiting Hawks (14-2) returned to their winning ways.

    Senior guard Christian Seymour chipped in with 17 points and four assists, while senior forward Tyler Hornback added 15 points, eight steals, six rebounds and four assists.

    Junior forward Tyler Nall and freshman guard Jordan Brewer each scored eight points.

  • Detre leads Nelson County team...

    Jason Detre wrestled on LaRue County High School’s first State Duals team way back in 1995.

    He’s now head wrestling coach at region rival Nelson County High School.

    On Saturday, Detre – following in the footsteps of his former coach Gary Canter – led his team to its first State Duals appearance by finishing second at the Region 2 duals.

  • Tyler Hornback reaches 1,000-...

    LaRue County and Louisville Eastern were the state’s lone undefeated boys’ basketball teams entering games Jan. 6. Eastern bested Ballard, but the Hawks fell 64-63 at home to Campbellsville.

    The Eagles (8-4) built double-digit leads and still held a 59-47 advantage after Bryton Taylor’s steal and lay-up at 6:59 of the fourth quarter.

    However, LaRue County (13-1) charged back for the third time during the game and used a 14-4 run to trail by only two (63-61) with 1:44 left.

  • Basketball passes on sale

    Season passes for LaRue County’s upcoming high school basketball season are available at the high school.

    The passes cost $20 for students and $40 for adults and are valid for all varsity, JV, freshmen boys’ and girls’ home games during the regular season.
