The LaRue County High School boys’ basketball team broke a two-game losing streak Jan. 13 with a defeat of Spencer County, 82-72.

Senior forward Bryan Bault scored 29 points and had seven rebounds as the visiting Hawks (14-2) returned to their winning ways.

Senior guard Christian Seymour chipped in with 17 points and four assists, while senior forward Tyler Hornback added 15 points, eight steals, six rebounds and four assists.

Junior forward Tyler Nall and freshman guard Jordan Brewer each scored eight points.

LaRue County and Louisville Eastern were the state’s lone undefeated boys’ basketball teams entering games Jan. 6. Eastern bested Ballard, but the Hawks fell 64-63 at home to Campbellsville.

The Eagles (8-4) built double-digit leads and still held a 59-47 advantage after Bryton Taylor’s steal and lay-up at 6:59 of the fourth quarter.

However, LaRue County (13-1) charged back for the third time during the game and used a 14-4 run to trail by only two (63-61) with 1:44 left.

The LaRue County High School cheerleaders will compete today at Taylor County HIgh School in Campbellsville and Jan. 31 for a regional title at Central Hardin HIgh School in Elizabethtown.

The competition is conducted by KAPOS, the Kentucky Association of Pep Organization Sponsors.
