  • Lady Hawks attend soccer camp

    The Lady Hawks Soccer team recently attended camp hosted by Cambellsville University’s women’s soccer coach, Thom Jones.
    The Lady Hawks  worked exceptionally hard and are already making big changes on the field.
    Coach Jones’ wealth of knowledge has not only inspired this team, according to Lady Hawk Coach Becky Hawkins, but also changed the way they think about how the game of soccer is played.

    For LaRue County High School boys’ soccer, success can be found on the scoreboard, on the field and in the classroom. It is the result of skills, heart and determination.
    Many athletes have contributed to the teams’ success: The Dylans, Andrews, Brents and Bo. The Logans, Todds, Justins, and Damons laid down the foundations of success and Hawk pride. The list of contributors stretches a long way.

  • State wrestling, soccer venues...

    The Kentucky High School Athletic Association is overhauling three of its state championships, changing the venues where the soccer final four and wrestling state tournaments are conducted.

    In a press release Tuesday, the organization announced it is moving the boys’ and girls’ soccer final four to Lexington Paul Dunbar from Georgetown College and the wrestling state tournament to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington from the Frankfort Convention Center.

  • Meredith returns to lead Hawk...

    The LaRue County Hawks golf team returns their top three players from last year’s region squad which tied for 10th place.
    Senior Kyle Meredith, who qualified for last year’s state tournament, headlines the cast of returnees. Also back are freshman Austin Hite and seventh-grader Cameron Dawson.

    Big Maroon Club dinner and auction
    Campbellsville University will host its Big Maroon Club dinner and auction beginning at 6 p.m. Aug. 11. The event will be in the Winters Dining Hall on campus. A silent auction begins at 6 p.m.; dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at $25 per person, with half the price being tax deductible. Tax deductions are also available for sponsorships and donated auction items. You can contact the development office at 270-789-5211 for details.

  • Hawks ready to roll in Armes’...

    In his 17th and what he states will be his final year of coaching Hawks varsity football, Head Coach Rodney Armes has a philosophy about his athletes’ efforts on the football field – “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”
    If effort is indeed the gauge to success, his 2011 LaRue County High School football team is already a winner.
