  • Kickball tournament will benefit...

    LaRue County Park and Recreation and the Relay For Life of LaRue County are hosting a Kicking Cancer Kickball Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 20.
    The event will be held at Park and Recreation and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and parks renovation fund.
    Entry fee is $50 per team of 10 players. It will be a double elimination tournament with divisions for youth, 6th-12th grade and adult co-ed, ages 18 and older. Co-ed groups must have at least three female players per team. Trophies will be awarded to the top-two teams in each division.

  • Lady Hawks to 'Volley for...

    On Aug. 22, the Lady Hawks volleyball team will host the fourth annual Volley for the Cure.
    The Ladies will add pink – the color symbolic of breast cancer awareness – to their traditional blue and white uniforms and play with a pink volleyball when they host the North Hardin Lady Trojans. The game begins at 5:30 p.m. in the LaRue County High School gymnasium.
    Booster president Sandra Baird hopes fans for both teams will join them in wearing pink.

  • Golf team shows steady progress

    The LaRue County golf team has competed in four meets this fall and despite some “pretty common errors” in the first tournament, is showing progress, according to Coach Justin Craft.
    “Many kids lack consistency early in the season, and that’s an area we will look to improve upon as the season progresses,” Craft said.

  • LaRue tops Taylor in season...

    Sophomore Allison Evans had eight kills and four blocks, and sophomore Ivy Brown had eight kills, two blocks and one ace as the homestanding Lady Hawks held off Taylor County Monday in the season opener for both teams.
    Junior Lauren Meredith chipped in with 16 assists and one ace, while junior Miranda Hornback had two kills and one ace.
    UP NEXT: LaRue County hosts 18th District rival Caverna at 7 p.m. Thursday.

  • Lady Hawks return one starter...

    For the past three years, LaRue County has been a force to be reckoned with on the 5th Region volleyball scene. Since coach Ben Schell took over in the 2008 season, the Lady Hawks have averaged more than 23 overall wins and more than 17 region victories per season, appearing in the region tournament every year.
