    Youth Softball League’s Fun Day
    The LaRue County Youth Softball League will kick off their season 6 p.m. April 27 with opening ceremony that introduces all teams.  A 19-team weekend tournament begins after the ceremony. Fun Day is April 28, which includes face painting, games, bouncy houses and an auction of items donated by parents and businesses around town.
    The League is accepting donations for Saturday’s auction. To donate or for more information, contact Greg Cooper at 270-491-0302 or coopergreg21@gmail.com.

  • BASEBALL: Hawks defeat Nelson,...

    The Hawks won three games last week, overpowering Nelson County 7-1 on April 17 and edging Green County  (5-4) April 19 and John Hardin (5-4) April 20.
    NELSON COUNTY
    Senior Slade Owens had two doubles, three RBIs and scored twice to lead the homestanding Hawks past 5th Region foe Nelson County.
    Senior Wesley Kessinger, who got the win, helped himself out with an RBI double. He gave up three hits and struck out two in five innings.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks win 3-of-4

    The Lady Hawks won Monday and had two wins and a loss last week.
    The team defeated Hart County 13-4 on April 17 and Caverna 9-0 on April 19 before falling to East Robertson, Tenn., in four innings April 20 in the Greenwood Border Battle. Monday, they defeated Caverna 5-1.
    HART COUNTY
    Sophomore Brigitte Skaggs had three hits and two RBIs and sophomore Courtney Johnson was a homer short of the cycle as the visiting Lady Hawks (7-13 overall, 1-2 18th District) routed district foe Hart County.

  • Campbellsville University holds...

    Twelve boys from the Lincoln Village Detention Center visited Campbellsville University for a basketball clinic on April 10.
    Dr. G. Ted Taylor’s Christian Coaching class hosted a Gospel-driven basketball clinic for the 12 juveniles in the Powell Athletic Center. Mike Smith, recreational director at Lincoln Village and a CU student, said, “We had these 12 young men who had to be on good behavior all week in order to come.” Because of their good behavior, the boys were allowed the outing to CU.

    Youth baseball golf scramble
    A golf scramble to benefit LaRue County Youth Baseball will be 9 a.m. April 21. Cost is $50 per player; four people per team. Cash prizes for first, second and third places; $10,000 hole-in-one prize. Hole sponsors needed, $50, and one person from business plays for free.
