  • Andre Cooper to coach soccer at...

     While Andre Cooper’s inaugural Elizabethtown Community and Technical College women’s soccer team is supposed to wear maroon, the Barons’ coach from Trinidad could see some North Hardin High School blue and white at practice this week.

    Of the 12 women who filled out informational forms Friday night at the school’s athletics organizational meeting inside its Regional Postsecondary Center, four of the potential Barons attended North Hardin.

    The LaRue County 12-and-under All-Star Softball team traveled to Munfordville and participated in the Heartbreaker’s fast pitch softball tournament where they took second. The team consists of Autum Riggs, Sara Beth Warren, Zoie Webb, Taylor Urlich, Jordan Bradley, Kaitlyn Warnhius, Brittany Blair, Paige Noe and Emily Miller. Not present: Chasity Baker and Savia Brashear. The team is sponsored by Miller’s Accounting Service and coached by Terry Bradley, Jamie Miller, Craig Warnshuis and David Noe.

  • Ritchey to serve as assistant...

    Roman Ritchey loves basketball. Playing or coaching, Ritchey feels right at home on the hardwood.

    He played one season on the junior varsity level at Georgetown College after graduating from LaRue County High School in 2003, and still plays in pickup games around the area. Ritchey also spent this past year as an assistant to John Veague at Elizabethtown Christian Academy.

     Since the decision was made to resuscitate sports at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Dale Buckles said the maroon-clad Barons have been met with open arms.

     With an extra-inning win late Sunday night, LaRue County has reached the Cal Ripken 9-year-old state baseball tournament semifinals.

  • Band plans poker run fundraiser

     With the prospect of new uniforms serving as motivation, the LaRue County High School Band of Hawks will be participating in a new type of fundraiser come Saturday, July 21. 

  • LaRue players shine in All-Star...

    The East All-Stars cruised to a 107-60 victory over the West All-Stars Saturday in the Kentucky High School Coaches Association All-Star girls’ game at Louisville St. Xavier.

    LaRue County’s Haley Holt led the West All-Stars with 12 points and two rebounds. Alisha Durbin chipped in four points, three blocks and a team-best eight rebounds.

    The East All-Stars are comprised of players from the 7th and 8th regions while West All-Stars are from the 5th and 6th regions. Players must be incoming seniors.
