    The Region tennis tournament starts Saturday at University Park Drive in Elizabethtown.
    LaRue’s Michelle Seymour is fourth seed in singles. In girls’ doubles, Amelia Miller and Paige Nalley are seeded third.
    Fifteen schools will compete.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks snap losing...

    The Lady Hawks fell April 24 to Meade County, 11-1.
    The game was called at five innings with LaRue County having two hits.
    Sophomore Courtney Johnson doubled and scored for LaRue County. Senior Bethany Skaggs singled for the Lady Hawks’ only other hit.

    The visiting Lady Cardinals used a six-run third inning to pull away from the Lady Hawks Thursday.
    Senior Brittany Enlow hit a solo homer in the third for LaRue while sophomore Peyton Gardner doubled and junior Kayla Skaggs hit two singles.

  • KHSAA Board of Control seeks at-...

    The Kentucky Department of Education is seeking an individual to serve on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control to fill a vacant position.  
    The KHSAA is the Kentucky Board of Education’s designee to manage statewide interscholastic athletic programs. The Board of Control supervises KHSAA, establishes staff salaries, sets goals for the association and has the authority to set rules and review proposed changes to the KHSAA constitution and bylaws.
    The deadline for applications is May 4.

    Sports physicals for LaRue County High and Middle School athletes will be 9-9:30 a.m. May 12 in Therapy & Sports Medicine Center, Elizabethtown.
    Cost is $10.

  • BASEBALL: Hawks go 3-0 in...

    The LaRue County Hawks accomplished an unusual feat as they went 3-0 over the weekend in the Louisville Invitational Tournament.
    The Hawks, who won all three games by a run, were no-hit in a 1-0 victory over Newport Central Catholic on Saturday. LaRue County also topped Louisville Southern, 3-2 and Louisville Trinity, 5-4 in the two-day event at Southern.
    Senior Steven Carpenter scored when he and fellow senior Slade Owens pulled off a double steal in the bottom of the first against Newport Central Catholic.

  • BASEBALL: Hawks lock up top seed...

    The LaRue County High School Hawks won both games in a doubleheader April 24, locking up the top seed for next month’s district tournament.
    The Hawks earned a 13-1 win in five innings in the opener against Hart County before topping Green County in five innings in the nightcap, 12-2.

    Against Hart County, senior Jesse Johnson (3-2) struck out five, walked four and allowed just one hit. He also singled, doubled, drove in three and scored twice.

  • Future Hawks Basketball Camp...

     The LaRue County High School basketball coaching staff will conduct its annual summer basketball camp May 29-June 1. Boys in grades 1-8 as of August 2012 may attend the camp which will include instruction from Head Coach Paul Childress and his coaching staff.
