  • Youth tournament planned in...

    The Campbellsville Community Club will host a youth basketball tournament March 6-8. The tournament is open to the first 12 teams in fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys divisions. Entry fee is $125 per team payable in advance.

  • LaRue’s girls sweep...

    The competition was spirited but friendly Saturday at the LaRue County High School’s shot put and high jump meet held at the school’s indoor facility. LaRue coaches Lydia Kerr and Jeremy Blair were proud of the effort and hard work put forth by their boys and girls.

  • Canter named to Region Hall of...

    Gary Canter has been selected to the 5th Region Athletic Directors Hall of Fame. The recognition will take place at Nelson County High School before the girls’ championship game on March 7. 

    Canter has coached at LaRue County High School 23 years. Although he was head coach of the girls’ basketball team a short time and assisted with the football program, his main claim to fame is as head wrestling coach.

  • Young wrestlers excel at region

    The LaRue County youth wrestlers traveled to St. Xavier High School in Louisville Feb. 28 to compete in the Kentucky Elementary Region 2 Wrestling Tournament. LaRue sent 20 wresters to compete; 17 came home with medals.

    Six came home with first-place trophies – Tristin Brown, Tyger Hall, Seth Brooks, Mason Ray, Tharon Blair and Brandon Huffman.

    Five took second – Chase Puyear, Tootie Franklin, Bryson Puyear, David Huffman and Jesse Walters.

    Five were third – Dalton Bell, Stiles Metcalf, Carter Sheldon, Jake Gardner and Austin Waggoner.

  • Youth softball sign-ups begin

    Girls' youth softball sign-ups will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 14, 6-8 p.m. March 19 and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. March 21 at LaRue County Parks and Recreation. Leagues are planned for ages 8-and-younger through age 14.

    Hodgenville Elementary School will challenge Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.

    Admission is $1 for adults and free for students under 18.

    A special presentation of the 2009 Elementary School State participants and champions will precede the duals.

  • Bowfishing seminars to be...

    The Passing on the Tradition support group has teamed with the Kentucky Department of Parks to offer four free training seminars on bowfishing at resort parks across the state during 2009.

    The first seminar is March 20-21 at Rough River Dam State Resort Park.  

  • LaRue’s region hopes...

    LaRue County scored the game’s first five points, but John Hardin tallied the next 14 points and then used a 17-8 third quarter to end the Hawks’ season 70-58 in the first round of the 5th Region Tournament on March 5 in the Roby Dome at Marion County High School.
