  • Cyclists can enter the Horsey...

     Cyclists in Kentucky have a new challenge – the Kentucky Century Challenge.

    The event brings together four of the most popular cycling rides in Kentucky: The Redbud Ride in London, the Horsey Hundred in Georgetown, the Preservation Pedal in Frankfort and the Old Kentucky Home Tour in Louisville.

  • BASKETBALL: Hawks defeat Adair...

     The LaRue County Hawks picked up a win (48-41) on the road Jan. 8 against the Adair County Indians.

    Coach Paul Childress said he was proud of the resiliency demonstrated by his team.

    “Any time you go to Adair County, you know what to expect,” he said. Coach (Mark) Fudge does an excellent job with his teams. They will always defend you exceptionally well and you have to earn every point against them. We knew going into the game that if we played well, it would be a grind for us.”

     Over the Christmas break, the LaRue County High School wrestling team participated in two tournaments finishing first in both. The Mat Hawks won the Meade County Tsunami Duals and then traveled to Arkansas and won the Hurricane Holiday Classic.

     Senior point guard Kelton “Putt-Putt” Ford and sophomore reserve shooting guard Micah Wiseman both had career nights Friday as the homestanding LaRue County Hawks pulled away from 18th District rival Green County.

     Stars and Strikes Bowl-a-thon Kickoff Luncheon

    The USA Cares Stars and Strikes Bowl-a-thon luncheon, sponsored by Furniture Liquidators, is Jan. 10 at the Pritchard Community Center, 404 S. Mulberry St., Elizabethtown.
