    HeartChase
    Flaget Memorial Hospital will present the second annual HeartChase on June 22 to benefit the American Heart Association.

    The event will span about a mile around downtown Bardstown and participants will pass through 10-15 checkpoints along the way. At each checkpoint, they will be required to answer health trivia questions and find clues before they can proceed.

  • Engstrand takes football helm at...

    Chris Engstrand, a 1997 LaRue County High School graduate, has been named head football coach of the Green County High School Dragons.

    The 2001 Campbellsville University graduate goes to Green County from Fairdale High School where his Bulldogs posted a 5-16 record during his two-year tenure there.

    Prior to that, his Henry County teams amassed a 28-19 record in four seasons (2006-09).

    LaRue County’s Ivy Brown played in the girls’ junior All-Star team over the weekend.

    The Kentucky Junior All-Stars were defeated (70-67) Friday at Greenfield-Central High School in Indiana. The Hoosiers won again Saturday 77-57.

    In the first game, Indiana seized control in the final moments of the first half and never relinquished it.

    Kentucky made a brief comeback early in the second half, but Indiana responded with a burst capped by a 3-pointer by Warsaw’s Nikki Grose for a 62-47 edge.

  • Henderson accepts head coach job...

    Joshua Henderson is the new head basketball coach for the Meade County Green Wave.

    He served six seasons as an assistant coach under Paul Childress at LaRue County. He played for Childress at Caverna High School and joined his staff after graduating from Western Kentucky University in 2007.

    Henderson, who was also the cross country coach at LaRue County for three seasons, believes his experience building LaRue County’s youth program will help him. He also served as head coach of the seventh- and eighth-grade and freshman boys’ teams.

    ECTC soccer tryouts scheduled
    Any graduating seniors, current Elizabethtown Community and Technical College students or other prospective students who want to play soccer are encouraged to attend tryouts. Tryouts for women’s soccer are 6-8 p.m. June 17 at Carroll Soccer Complex.
    More information will be available at a later date regarding tryouts for basketball or other sports. Anyone interested in ECTC sports who cannot attend tryouts should contact Dr. Dale Buckles at dale.buckles@kctcs.edu or 270-706-8431.
