    Wrestlers: Meet Coach Burrell
    There will be a wrestling “meet and greet” for middle and high school wrestlers and parents to meet newly hired Coach Eric Burrell at 7 p.m. July 10 in the LCHS library.

    Torrential rain delayed some play at the Cal Ripken tournament held last week at LaRue County Park and Recreation. Other games were played in Elizabethtown and Brandenburg.

  • Outdoors women sought for...

    Registration for the annual Kentucky Becoming an Outdoors-Woman workshop in September is open. The weekend program is designed for women 18 and older who want to learn more about the outdoors and develop skills related to the hunting, fishing and boating pastimes.

    The event is being held Sept. 20-22 at the 4-H Leadership Center on Lake Cumberland in Jabez. BOW is sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.

  • Evans to play in East/West All-...

    LaRue County High School Lady Hawk Allison “Alley” Evans will play in the East/West All-Star game.

    The game, featuring the most-talented players in the area, will be played 6 p.m. July 13 at St. Xavier High School. The 5th and 6th region will take on the 7th and 8th region.

    Bernard Smalley from Washington County will be the 5th region coach.

    Evans is the fifth player from LaRue County selected to play in three years.
     

  • Scramble to benefit golf course...

    A golf scramble in memory of Duane Ford, a long-time member of the LaRue County Country Club, will be used as a fundraiser for the golf course.

    Ford passed away at age 61 in December. He was well known as a Hodgenville mail carrier. Many of his friends also enjoyed his favorite pastime: golfing.

    “This will be a gathering of those who knew Duane and want to honor his memory by supporting a place he loved very dearly,” said Justin Craft, a friend of Ford and teacher/golf instructor at LaRue County High School.
