  • Band plans poker run fundraiser

     With the prospect of new uniforms serving as motivation, the LaRue County High School Band of Hawks will be participating in a new type of fundraiser come Saturday, July 21. 

  • LaRue players shine in All-Star...

    The East All-Stars cruised to a 107-60 victory over the West All-Stars Saturday in the Kentucky High School Coaches Association All-Star girls’ game at Louisville St. Xavier.

    LaRue County’s Haley Holt led the West All-Stars with 12 points and two rebounds. Alisha Durbin chipped in four points, three blocks and a team-best eight rebounds.

    The East All-Stars are comprised of players from the 7th and 8th regions while West All-Stars are from the 5th and 6th regions. Players must be incoming seniors.

  • LaRue 9s reach state semi-finals

    With an extra-inning win late Sunday night, LaRue County has reached the Cal Ripken 9-year-old state baseball tournament semifinals.

    LaRue County defeated Okolona, 14-12 in seven innings in Owensboro to reach the semifinals.

    Bryce Neagle led LaRue with a double and four RBIs, while Bryson Arnette had a double and two RBIs. Conner Baker had a single and an RBI. Layne Gribbons hit two singles. Daniel Snodgrass had two RBIs, while Tripp Chapman and Alec Perez had one apiece.

  • Kickball makes a comeback

    To hear that kickball is making a comeback would certainly be a surprise for some, but locally it’s a sport that has been spreading like wildfire. But how did the recent flare of kickball fever begin?

    Bruce Nichols is the coach for the Rolling Fork Crosskicks in the Tuesday and Thursday night New Haven adult co-ed league, but as he is also the pastor for the Rolling Fork Baptist Church, currently on a mission trip to China. His friend and fellow church member Mike Hanson shared some details about at least one beginning of the kickball fad.

  • Cameron Dawson wins golf tourney

    Cameron Dawson won the 13-14-year-old division in the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour at Kearney Hill in Lexington. Cameron, an eighth grader, is the son of LaRue County High School Athletic Director David Dawson. He has been playing the sport for nine years and has competed in the regional golf tournament.
