    Lady Hawks Basketball Camp

    LaRue County girls’ basketball will hold a camp for 1st-8th grade girls July 7-9. Camp fee is $30 per girl and includes a T-shirt and three days of instruction. The camp will run 10 a.m.-noon at LaRue County High School.

  • Edwards 'excited' to...

    John Edwards of Buffalo is one of 12 umpires who’ll work the 37th Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore., Aug. 12-18.

    The Green County High School graduate who lives on South L&N Turnpike, said he was “pretty excited” upon hearing that he had been selected.

    Though this is his first World Series, Edwards is a post-season umpiring veteran, having worked a Little League softball regional in Missouri in 2007 and a baseball regional in 2008 at Indianapolis.

  • Hagan wins Sportsman feature

    The American Modified Series presented by Force Fuel and Engine Conditioner visited Bluegrass Speedway Saturday evening for the 10th Annual Mod Squad Bash.

    Jason Wheatley of Loretto grabbed the $1,500 payday in the event with an exciting last lap pass for the win. Bryan Barber took second in the 30-lap caution-free main event.

    In preliminary action, Barber claimed the SPEC Race Engines top qualifier award with a lap of 18.315 seconds.

  • Whitlock twins play in All-Star...

    The Kentucky Softball Coaches Association 11th annual East vs. West All-Star games were played this past weekend at the University of Kentucky. LaRue County Lady Hawks twins Valerie and Lyndsay Whitlock were members of the West Junior All-Stars whose team finished with a 2-1 record.

  • Tennis players continue season...

    Three LaRue County High School tennis players are continuing their season with Central Kentucky Team Tennis.

    Dylan Parr, Michelle Seymour and Ryan Abell play for an 18-and-under team, the Crady Bears, coached by Jeff Crady. Other students are from Central Hardin, Elizabethtown, John Hardin and North Hardin.

  • Lady Hawks end season with...

    The 2010 Lady Hawks set three KHSAA state records: most runs scored in an inning (18); most hits in a game (31); and most combined hits in a game with Lexington Bryan Station (49). This year’s team also made their mark in the Lady Hawks’ history book as they tied the 1997 team with most hits with 308 and second in team batting average with .341 average.

    Several individuals were also recognized by their performance in the 2010 campaign.

  • Whitlocks headed to East/West...

    Lady Hawks junior twins Lyndsay and Valerie Whitlock have been honored by the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association by being named to the 2010 Western Kentucky All-Star Team.

    The traditional all-star game will take place June 18-20 at the University of Kentucky Softball Complex. The West All-Stars will compete Saturday June 19 against the East Senior All-Stars and West Senior All-Stars before facing the East Junior All-Stars Sunday, June 20.

    The Whitlocks are among six Lady Hawks that have been honored in the program’s history for the annual East/West game.

    Bicycle drawing is Friday

    LaRue County Parks and Recreation will draw for the bicycle Friday, July 2. The drawing will be taken from the park admittance tickets. The winner will be notified by Regina Devers.
