  • Ivy Brown a finalist for Miss...

    LaRue County senior guard Ivy Brown, a Western Kentucky signee, was named Wednesday as a finalist for the 2014 Kentucky Miss Basketball award.
    The other finalists for this year’s award are Anderson County’s MacKenzie Cann and Eriel McKee, Newport Central Catholic’s Nicole Kiernan, Perry County Central’s Kayla Rankin, Ballard’s Javonna Layfield and Sacred Heart’s Daijia Ruffin.
    The Mr. and Miss Basketball awards will be announced March 18 before the start of boys’ state tournament.

  • Basketball court dedicated to...

    Cortland ‘Corky’ Cox was honored Friday by faculty and fans at the dedication of the high school basketball gym in his name.
    Cox coached the Hawks for 13 years, leading them to three state tournament appearances. His teams sported a 247-133 record.
    Before coming to LaRue County, the West Point native and Valley High School graduate was a star basketball guard and standout shortstop at the University of Louisville.

  • WRESTLING: Mat Hawks take 8th at...

    The LaRue County Mat Hawks finished eighth Saturday at the Kentucky Wrestling Coaches Association State Duals in the small schools division at Montgomery County.

    The Hawks defeated Caldwell County, 40-24, in their first round.

    The Hawks lost to Wayne County, 46-30; to North Oldham, 50-23; and Louisville Doss, 47-24.

    Information about the Caldwell match is unavailable.
