  • Lady Hawks smash John Hardin

    (DELAYED)

    The Lady Hawks dropped a game against Campbellsville May 14, 10-4.

    It was a game of stark contrast. The Lady Hawks started out the game in good form, scoring one run in the third inning, one in the fourth and two in the fifth. The game turned 180 degrees, though, in the sixth inning when the Campbellsville Eagles scored nine runs.

  • Lady Hawks fall in first round...

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks softball season came to an abrupt end Monday at the Fifth Region Tournament at North Hardin High School. The Nelson County Lady Cardinals beat the Lady Hawks 4-0 in the opening round. 

    Amelia Miller pitched seven strong innings striking out six batters while giving up only one earned run in the loss. Costly errors in the first and third innings by the Lady Hawks and a timely triple by Lady Cardinal catcher Sarah Beth Gillis, accounted for three of the four runs. 

  • Seymour wins first match at state

    Freshman Michelle Seymour is the first LaRue County girls’ tennis player to win a match at the KHSAA State Tournament.

    Seymour coasted through her first match at the Lexington meet, defeating Emily McKenzie of Morgan County 6-2, 6-2.

    “Michelle defeated a very skilled athlete,” Coach Chris Estes said. “I consider this her best win of the season.”

    Estes was watching warm-ups and thought her first match was going to be more of a challenge but she pulled through it.

  • Hawks win district, drop to E...

    Make it eight straight.

    The LaRue County Hawks made it their eighth straight district title Tuesday, May 19, in Caverna by defeating Green County in a thriller 3-2.

    Seniors Scott Cox, Tyler Hornback, Justin Chelf, Christian Seymour, Travis Crim, Lane Smith, Max McCubbin, Caleb Cobb, and Jay Eastridge can cherish the memory of being district champs their last year in baseball.

  • Hawks fall to E'town in 5th...

    LaRue County's stay in the 5th Region Baseball Tournament was short lived. The Hawks dropped a 12-5 decision to Elizabethtown in the opening game Monday at John Hardin High School.

    The Hawks, who close the season at 15-15, were champions of the 18th District Tournament for the eighth consecutive year.

    E'town improved its record to 27-10 Tuesday with a 10-0 victory over Taylor County in the tournament semifinal. Taylor County had advanced with a 12-10 win Monday over Nelson County.

  • Lady Hawks eliminated from region

    Nelson County blanked LaRue County's softball team 4-0 Monday in the opening round of the 5th Region Tournament at North Hardin High School in Radcliff.

    Coach Mielle DiStefano's Lady Hawks qualified as the 18th District runner-up and finish the season with a 10-15 record.

  • Seymour wins first state tennis...

    LaRue County High freshman Michelle Seymour dominated her first match as the girls' state tennis tournament got under way Thursday at the University of Kentucky.

    In round two, the seedings put her up against a neighbor from region champion Elizabethtown, singles champion Jenna Sallee. The Panther sophomore defeated Seymour 6-2, 6-0.

    In her state debut earlier in the day, Seymour took a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Emily McKenzie, a Morgan County junior. Her performance exceeded her expectations.

  • Alumni track meet canceled

    LaRue County High School planned to host an alumni vs. current track members track meet. The event has been canceled due to a lack of interest.

    The idea was to create a fun fundraiser for the current track program with an entry fee charged for each event and an admission fee for the event. It was to have been open to all community members as well as former LCHS track and field participants.

  • Pre-participation physicals...

    Pre-participation physicals for LaRue County High School athletes and incoming freshmen are available May 30 at Hardin Memorial Hospital’s Therapy and Sports Medicine Center, 1111 Ring Road, Elizabethtown.

    The physicals begin at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per person.

    A KHSAA pre-participation form must be completed and signed before the physical. A portion of the money collected will be given back to the school in the form of medical supplies.

  • Cardinal Caravan stops in area...

    University of Louisville coaches and athletics staff members will make six regional stops, including a visit Wednesday evening in Elizabethtown, as part of the annual Cardinal Caravan.

    "This eighth annual event allows us to reach out and show our appreciation to those that support our programs throughout the year," said Tom Jurich, director of athletics at U of L. "Our staff enjoys the opportunity to share some time up close with so many loyal Cardinal fans around the region."
