  • All-Star teams head to state

    The Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission will host two Cal Ripken West Kentucky state championships – the 9-year-old division and the 11-year-old 50/70 division.

    The EABC 9-year-old All-Stars used a six-run second inning to down LaRue County, 12-2 on Sunday at Alvis Shelton Field to win the District 10 championship. Since Elizabethtown is hosting the state tournament, the district runner-up – LaRue County in this case – earns a berth as well.

  • Bluegrass State Games begin July...

    The largest sporting event in Kentucky has opened its online registration. The Get Healthy Kentucky Bluegrass State Games will host 31 sports and more than 1,500 athletes this year including cornhole, volleyball and bowling.

    The Get Healthy Kentucky Bluegrass State Games will take place in central Kentucky July 17-19 and July 24-26. The Celebration of Athletes will take place July 24 at Applebee’s Park in Lexington.

  • Lady Hawk volleyball tryouts set

    The LaRue County High School Lady Hawk volleyball team will hold tryouts from 9-10:30 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. 

    All players must have a current KHSAA physical. Forms are available in the LCHS main office. 

  • LCHS golf coach calls meeting

    All potential golfers for the LaRue County High School team are to meet with coach Rip Collins at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, at the LaRue County Country Club.

  • Hodgenville boy excels on links

    Nine-year-old Cameron Lasley of Hodgenville finished second in the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour event July 2 at Sun Valley Golf Course in Louisville.

    Cameron competed in the 10-and-under division and completed the nine-hole event with a 48, losing to event winner and current statewide tour points leader Bryce Smith of Lexington who shot a 46.

  • Sports physicals offered Tuesday

    Dr. Brandon Houk will be conducting sports physicals 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at LaRue County High School for all middle and high school student athletes.

    Cost is $10 and forms will be on hand.

  • Soccer Boosters plan fundraisers

    The LaRue County Soccer Boosters will have several fundraisers scheduled for Saturday, July 11. The events are a yard sale at Ruthie’s Lincoln Freeze 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; bake sale at Geneva’s Florist 9 a.m.-noon; and car wash at Save-A-Lot 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

  • Sarah Baker becomes first...

    Hodgenville’s Sarah Baker was the only champion crowned Saturday in the 16th annual State Farm E'town Open.

    She won the three-person round-robin women’s B singles division by beating Elizabethtown’s Sheila Casteel in the first round, 7-5, 6-4, before downing Liberty’s Marvetta Overstreet in the second, 6-3, 7-5.
