  • Chris Allen named tennis coach...

    Chris Allen, LaRue County High School’s new boys’ and girls’ tennis coach, was a high school freshman when he developed his passion for the sport.

    “I was in P.E. when we played tennis as part of our class,” he said. His teacher, Jamie Hardin, observing his play, suggested he try out for the Hawks’ team, which he did.

    The LaRue County Hawks fell 10-23 to Louisville Western in Friday's opening round of 4-A playoffs.

    In the 1950s, there was a movie titled “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

    During the last week of the season, the Lady Hawks soccer team played three games. The Ladies won the first game, tied the second game and lost the third match. The third match was played in the postseason district tournament and ended the girls’ season. However, this real-life version can be titled “The Good, the Good, and the Better.”

    During this season, these young student-athletes were on a mission – to win the most games in school history.

    The troubles continued for the LaRue County Hawks on Friday at John J. Boswell Field in Lebanon.

    The Hawks went a third consecutive game without a rushing touchdown and turned the ball over three times to district opponent Marion County in a 55-6 loss.

    “Everything is up field for us; we’re really struggling right now. Our confidence is way low. We’re had 12 turnovers in the last three games. Our confidence is really, really bad right now,” Hawks Head Coach Rodney Armes said.
