  • FOOTBALL: Hawks fall to Panthers

    The LaRue County High School Hawks lost their eighth straight Oct. 19 to host Elizabethtown at Doug Smith Memorial Stadium.

    It was a pivotal Class 3-A, District 3 clash for both teams. Elizabethtown (6-2, 1-1) won to keep alive its bid of hosting a playoff game, while the loss guaranteed the Hawks (0-8, 0-2) the fourth seed in the playoffs and a first-round game at District 4 top seed Wayne County.

    The win was the Panthers’ first against the Hawks since 2008.

  • Lady Hawks win first 18th...

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks won their first 18th District Soccer championship by beating Marion County 2-1 in a thrilling shootout Thursday night.

    For the second straight year, LaRue County (15-2-2) advances to the 5th Region Tournament.

    Senior defender Peyton Gardner made the final penalty kick to give LaRue County the win over the Lady Knights.

    Freshman attacker Gillian Nunn scored in regulation off an assist from junior midfielder Rachel Wolf.

  • Jack Mitchell Cross Country...

    The Jack Mitchell Cross Country Invitational was held Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the new cross country course behind Hodgenville Elementary. Over ten schools participated in this growing run meet and the Middle School Boys Team from LaRue County placed first in the event. The meet is held annually and is named after long-time LaRue County track coach Jack Mitchell who continues to coach from the sidelines!
     

  • Cameron Dawson competes at state...

    LaRue County’s Cameron Dawson played last week in the KHSAA State Golf Tournament.

    The freshman’s day started with an uncharacteristic triple bogey and he did’t settle down until the back nine. Dawson ended up with a 12-over-par 84 to miss the cut by five strokes.

    “I haven’t had much experience playing at 7 in the morning,” Dawson said. “The course was wet and playing really long. The wind started to pick up on the seventh or eighth hole. That made it even more difficult.”

  • LCMS beats Campbellsville for...

    LaRue County Middle School won the Central Kentucky Middle School Athletic Conference Bowl on Oct. 5.

    The Hawks defeated Campbellsville Middle School 14-12 in overtime.

    The Eagles took a 6-0 lead in the second quarter on a 7-yard pass from Tyrion Taylor to Tristan Johnson. However, the visiting Hawks knotted the score two minutes later and the game stayed tied throughout regulation.

  • Lady Hawks 2-1 in Henderson...

    The Lady Hawks defeated the visiting John Hardin Lady Bulldogs Oct. 8, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.

    LaRue County fought off rallies from John Hardin in the first and second sets and then cruised to a win in the third set.

    The Lady Hawks start four seniors and have 13 wins in their last 14 matches, so it’s usually pretty easy for them to identify their mistakes.
