  • Hawks make changes for new...

    Despite last year’s 4-7 record, coach Rodney Armes and his coaching staff have a lot of energy heading into LaRue County High School football season.

    Offense-wise, the Hawks lost eight seniors to graduation, but the returning underclassmen were 8-0 in junior varsity competition.

    Defense has been changed to defend the passing game – a weakness shown against district foes Marion and Bullitt East last season.

  • 9-year-old finds success in golf...

    Having won one summer tournament and placing second in three others, 9-year-old Cameron Lasley of Hodgenville finished seventh overall in the final standings of the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour.

    The fourth grader claimed top honors at the Charlie Vettiner Golf Course in Louisville June 10, finishing with a 69. He was only two strokes away from victory, firing a 48 at the Sun Valley Golf Course in Louisville July 2.

    A member of LaRue County High School’s golf team, Lasley has played the links since he was three years old.

  • Blaze wins Wolverine Classic

    The Kentucky Blaze 8U baseball team won Wolverine Classic 8U Baseball Tournament in Frankfort. The Blaze defeated Jessamine County in the championship game 7-2 going 6-0 for the tournament, bringing their season record to 20-2. Team member Jacob Gentry is from Hodgenville.

  • LaRue sweeps North Hardin in...

    In the first two days of the high school volleyball season, LaRue County has recorded  two wins.

    The Lady Hawks followed up Monday night's win over Taylor County with a 25-13, 25-13 sweep of North Hardin, the alma mater of LaRue County second-year coach Ben Schell.

  • LaRue starts volleyball season...

    Junior setter Molly Kennedy had 14 assists, three kills and two digs to lead the homestanding LaRue County Lady Hawks past 5th Region rival Taylor County, 25-22, 25-12 on Monday in both teams’ season openers.   • 9-year-old All-Stars win...

    LaRue County’s 9-year-old All-Stars won the Breckinridge County tournament over the weekend.

    LaRue defeated Hancock 9-6 and Breckinridge 14-9 before facing Breckinridge again for the championship.

    In the first game against Hancock, Ty Morris started on the mound for LaRue. He faced five batters, striking out two, allowing no hits and no runs.

  • KHSAA alters soccer scheduling...

    The Kentucky High School Athletic Association revised the number of regular season soccer contests and changed the way it counts.

    Beginning with this school year, the limitation for soccer states that the season shall consist of a maximum of 21 total games before the start of district tournament play. This total includes game-for-game counts of any regular season tournaments.

    The previous regulations limited the season to 17 games but tournaments counted as exceptions.
