     Two LaRue County Middle School wrestlers medaled in Saturday’s Veterans Memorial Tournament at John Hardin High School.

    Stiles Metcalf went 4-1 for a second place finish; Justice Harrison went 4-1 for a third place finish.

    The team’s next challenge is a tournament at North Hardin on Nov. 17.

  • CROSS COUNTRY: Adam Sandidge...

     LaRue County’s Adam Sandidge took fifth in Saturday’s 2-A KHSAA State Cross Country Championship at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

    It was a significant improvement from last year when he placed 32nd.

    Sandidge, who was ranked second entering Saturday, covered the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, 10.48 seconds.

  • FOOTBALL: Hawks' season...

     LOG MOUNTAIN — For 2 1/2 quarters Friday night, the LaRue County Hawks had an eastern Kentucky power on the ropes.

    Then Jonathon Polly got his groove back.

    The Bell County senior running back ran for three of his four touchdowns in the final 19 minutes and finished with a game-high 210 yards on 23 carries to help the Bobcats rally past the Hawks, 35-14 in the second round of the Class 3-A state playoffs at Dudley Hilton Stadium.

  • Blue & White Night kicks off...

     The Hawks and Lady Hawks will kick off the upcoming basketball season with their annual Blue & White Night Friday, Nov. 16 at LaRue County High School gym.

    Fans will have a chance to see the players and help with fundraising.

    A chili supper will be held 4:30-6: p.m. in the high school cafeteria followed by the Blue/White activities in the gym starting at 6 p.m.

     Archery, fly fishing, and target shooting were just three of the numerous outdoor activities that more than 7,000 youth and their families were able to experience at the recent Boy Scouts of America Patriot Games featuring the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation’s Trailblazer Adventure Program.

     LaRue County High School Director of Student Services Kelly Sandidge was inducted into Centre College’s Athletic Hall of Fame Oct. 20 during homecoming. The 1987 LCHS graduate assumed the starting role as quarterback the fifth game into his freshman season at Centre and started every game after that. He lettered four years in football, was College Athletic Conference football team honorable mention in 1989 and made C.A.C. first-team at quarterback in 1990.
