    Wrestling State Duals

  • Hawks back on track after ‘tale...

The LaRue County Hawks fell to Barren County 56-66 Jan. 17.
Hawks Coach Paul Childress called it a “tale of two halves.”
LaRue played “decent defense in the first half and especially finished strong at the end of the second quarter,” he said.
The Trojans were down by seven points (28-21) at intermission but, unfortunately for the Hawks, rallied in the second half. They outscored LaRue 22-12 in the third period.

  • Mat Hawks prevail at Tennessee,...

The domination continues. Over the past two weeks, the LaRue County Mat Hawks have wrestled in two tournaments, one in Tennessee and the other at North Hardin and at each tournament, LaRue cruised to easy wins.
In Tennessee, the Mat Hawks set three tournament records: most points, racking up 316 points; having 11 finalists; and having nine champions.
The second place team at the Tennessee tournament, a top-10 team from Tennessee, had 230 points. At the North Hardin tournament, Central Hardin had 215 points to the Mat Hawks 285 points.

  • Mat Hawks on domination road to...

On Saturday, the LaRue County High School Mat Hawks will travel to Henry Clay High School in Lexington to try to capture back-to-back State Duals championship titles. If the team is successful it will be their sixth State Duals title.
There are some around the state saying there may not have been a team in the past 15 years to compare with the Hawks in the last six weight classes. Some teams can hang close in a dual for the first half but when the dual hits the last six classes, very few teams have the firepower to challenge the Mat Hawks.
