    Eric DeVary, president of LaRue County Parks and Recreation board of directors, said he is thankful that Brience Willian has come on board to help prepare the park’s seven sports fields and buildings for the spring and summer sports season.
    “Jack LaRue, our treasurer, and I have been taking care of the paperwork, rentals, and cleanup, and our mowing equipment is in bad shape, so we’re glad to have Brience,” said DeVary, who, like LaRue and the other board members, volunteer their time.

    LaRue County Chamber of Commerce Golf Scramble
    The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a golf scramble on Friday, April 12, at the LaRue County Golf Course. Rain date is April 19. Entry fee is $65 individual; $260 team. Fee includes lunch, cart, beverages and all contests. Mulligans are $5 each. Shotgun start is at noon; lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Prizes include $400 plus 50 percent of jackpot, hole-in-one and door prizes. For more information, call Krista Levee at 270-358-3411.

  • Jumping Hawks coach '...

    Eric Hughes, who recently accepted a position as interim assistant principal at LaRue County Middle School, has been instrumental in the organization and growth of the Jumping Hawks.
    The jumpers are a mixture of LaRue County students who, in addition to performing at area schools on behalf of the American Heart Association, have entertained at physical education conventions, University of Louisville girls’ basketball games, and Lincoln Days activities.

    Since 1984 the American Lung Association’s Golf Tour Book has been the golfer's best bet for fantastic savings at courses and practice facilities throughout the region. This year's golf booklet includes discounts on more than 5,000 rounds of golf at over 300 fine courses in Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Ohio.

    Each participating golf course offers book holders a reduced rate on one or more rounds of golf; some courses permit one round a month; and 73 clubs allow unlimited play. The book also includes driving range and indoor golf discounts.
