  • BASEBALL: Hawks continue winning...

Junior Cole Hughes threw a two-hitter to lead the LaRue County Hawks to a 3-1 win over host Fort Walton Beach (Fla.) on Wednesday in the Florida Beach Bash.
Hughes (4-0) struck out eight while allowing one unearned run, two walks and two singles.
“It was a great outing,” said LaRue County coach Chris Price. “He’s been that solid all year; he just hasn’t thrown against a very good team until tonight. It was good to see.”
The Hawks (10-3) scored all their runs in the top of the second on two wild pitches and a squeeze play.

  • Sports correspondent needed

The LaRue County Herald News, a 4,600 circulation weekly newspaper, is looking for a correspondent to cover LaRue County High School sports.

Good communication with coaches, players and newspaper staff is a must. The ideal candidate would have their own photography equipment and be able to provide photos with their stories. However, it is not a requirement.

Payment will be on a per-story/per-photo basis.

Some travel outside LaRue County may be required during tournament season.
