  • Lady Hawks kick Hart County

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks continued their winning ways Sept. 8 against Hart County. The Lady Hawks won 25-11, 25-27 and 25-7.

    “We played a great first and third set with Hart County tonight. The second set was great as well until we stopped playing to win and started making mistakes,” said Coach Ben Schell.

  • LaRue's girls' soccer...

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks soccer team ventured on a long trip Aug. 31 to Monroe County and emerged victorious, 7-1. So dominating was the victory, the first of the season, that five different players left their mark on the scoreboard.

    Not to be outdone, the middle-school attackers wrestled against the high-school junior varsity and played them to a 1-1 draw.

    Junior Shelby Mouser began the onslaught after receiving a long kick from fellow junior Justine Scroggins. Scroggins took a free kick from midfield and delivered the ball to Mouser’s feet.

  • Hawks defeat Green by 1

    Down to the last seconds, the Hawks pulled together a scoring drive to beat fourth-ranked and undefeated Green County at Greensburg 28-27 with 19.7 seconds on the clock during a  rainy Friday night.

    Hawks coach Rodney Armes gave accolades to both defensive and offensive efforts.

    “Our offensive line did such a tremendous job Friday night,” Armes said, “we ran the ball 95 percent of the time with sophomore Jordan Brewer being the difference maker.”

    Brewer got the nod as the starting quarterback Friday.

  • Soccer leaders emerge

    Within the confines of the LaRue County soccer teams are a tale of two players. One is quiet and unassuming; the other is boisterous and very confident in his abilities. The girl is the emergent leader of a small band of young ladies who play with heart and never quit. The boy is the confident leader of a group of young men who readily challenge anyone to step on their turf.

  • Cross country team tops in 3k

    The LaRue County High School cross country team fared well in its first competition of the season with the boys' and girls' teams winning the 3k race. 

    “All of the runners did well. This was the first race of the season and many of the runners had never run before in a 3k or 5k,” Coach Josh Henderson said. “As a whole, we did extremely well.”

    Henderson singled out newcomer Michelle Seymour and veteran Amarah Reed for praise.

    “Aliesha Durbin also ran strong since it was her first race of her career,” he said.

  • Varsity football: LaRue records...

    LaRue County pulled out a dramatic 28-27 win over Green County in high school football action Friday at Greensburg.

    A five-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Brewer to Alex Lee tied the game with 19.7 seconds on the clock. Bo Haun converted on his fourth PAT of the game for the margin of victory.

    Earlier in the fourth quarter, Anthony Myrks blocked a Green County conversion try after the Dragons took a 27-21 lead.

    The Hawks, now 2-1 on the season, play another Class 2A team on the road next week. LaRue will face Glasgow, 3-1.

     

  • Lady Hawks win Abraham Slam Jam

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks volleyball team broke their three-game losing streak Saturday, winning their own Abraham Slam Jam Tournament. LaRue won the championship game against Marion County with scores of 25-18, 24-26 and 25-17.  The LaRue girls also beat John Hardin 25-15 and 25-18 and Campbellsville 25-15 and 25-12. In pool play, LaRue beat Taylor County 25-16 and 25-23 and Washington County 25-18 and 25-20 but lost to Spencer County 22-25 and 16-25.

  • Lady Hawks making progress...

    The Lady Hawks varsity soccer team won its first game of the season 6-1 Monday against Monroe County.

    The team has struggled as it has been hampered by a small roster and injuries.

    The team has 17 members – mostly underclassmen.

  • High school football update

    After playing on two consecutive Saturdays, LaRue County's varsity football team took a bye week before beginning its Friday night lights portion of its schedule.

    The Hawks, 1-1 on the season, will face an undefeated Green County team on the road Sept. 11.Green County topped Butler County 41-7 in its latest game and also has victories over Middlesboro and Taylor County.
