     Junior Austin McDowell drove in senior Caleb Canter on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth, lifting the Hawks past 18th District foe Caverna. The homestanding Hawks won 7-6 April 16 in eight innings.

  • Fresh faces rack up 10 wins for...

     In spite of a lot of fresh faces in the lineup, LaRue County Middle School’s baseball team has belted out 10 victories in the first 12 games this season.

  • LCHS Football holds 3rd annual...

     The LaRue County High School football team will hold its third annual chicken barbeque fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.

    The event will be held at Sportsman Lake in Hodgenville. Tickets are $10 and available from football players. There will be a limited number of tickets sold at the door due to pre-ordering supplies.

    The dinner consists of a quarter chicken, two sides, dessert and a drink; dine-in or carryout.

  • Todd Allen named Co-Coach of the...

    A former LaRue County Mat Hawk continues to rack up honors in wrestling.

    Todd Allen, in his first year as head coach at Cumberland University, was voted Co-Coach of the Year. He mentored three All-Americans, the most in one season in the program's history.

    Zeke Hunt, Cody Linton and Jake Williams were named as All-Americans. Hunt and Joe Gallegos earned All-Mid-South Conference; Michael Gonzalez and David Capers were also named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

  • Student athletes to be honored...

    Several LaRue County student athletes will be honored at the Select Preps banquet May 11 at Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.

    The athletes were selected by LaRue County coaches. The News-Enterprise sponsors the banquet.

  • One-run games a pain for Lady...

    LaRue County’s Lady Hawks enjoyed spring break in Fort Walton Beach but struggled on the field as they went 1-4 at the Florida Beach Bash.
    Every game was decided by one point.
    “The Beach Bash was an exciting five games for the softball team,” said head coach Aaron Howell. “Although we lost four one-run games, I believe our team vastly improved. I’m looking forward to seeing if our play in Florida continues as we enter the second half of our season.”

    The LaRue County Hawks ended spring break with a 1-3 record, losing games to Glasgow (2-5); Reynoldsberg, Ohio (0-13); and Bellbrook, Ohio (9-12) at the Florida Beach Bash in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
