  • ‘Women in Basketball’ exhibit...

    The Kentucky Historical Society will reopen its history campus to walk-in visitors on Saturday, March 10, with a new exhibition, “Women in Basketball,” in the Keeneland Changing Exhibits Gallery at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History. The KHS history campus also includes the Old State Capitol and the Kentucky Military History Museum at the State Arsenal.

  • Hawks end successful season with...

    The LaRue County Hawks lost to John Hardin 78-84 in overtime Monday night in the 5th Region Tournament semifinals.
    After falling behind by as many as 12 in the third quarter, John Hardin chipped away at LaRue County’s lead and eventually tied the game at 67-all with 5.7 seconds remaining on junior point guard Brandon Price’s 8-foot jumper to force overtime.
    In overtime, the Bulldogs pulled out to a six-point lead and held on for victory at Central Hardin High School’s Bruin Gym. The Bulldogs face Bardstown Tuesday night for the championship.

  • 5th REGION TOURNAMENT: Hawks...

    Coaches know at this point of the season there are no cupcakes, but the Boys’ 5th Region Basketball Tournament has a sweet semifinal match-up, nonetheless.

    Two of the top four teams in terms of winning percentage meet in the region semifinals when John Hardin (20-8) takes on LaRue County (23-7) at 6 tonight at Central Hardin’s Bruin Gym. John Hardin is riding an eight-game winning streak, while LaRue County has won seven in a row.

        After Wednesday night’s first Boys’ 5th Region Basketball Tournament quarterfinal, Kelton Ford thinks he has put one myth to rest.
        The scouting report on the LaRue County junior guard might need to include one more item: just as deadly from the outside as he is driving to the hoop - especially when you don’t guard him tightly like the Taylor County Cardinals.

    LaRue County High School sophomore Adam Sandidge won his age group’s race and finished fifth overall in the Polar Bear Grand Prix three-race event at Louisville’s Cherokee Park.
    Jim B. Phelps, a LaRue County Middle School teacher, captured first place in his 30-34 age group, and placed seventh overall.
    The two were among seven LaRue County runners who competed in the 4K (2.5 miles) Reindeer Romp Dec. 10, Frostbite 5K (3.1 miles) Jan. 7 and the Snowman Shuffle 4-miler Feb. 4.

    Senior Kyle Sheeran took his turn at cutting down the basketball net after the Hawks defeated the Green County Dragons Friday for the 18th District Championship. The team enters Region Tournament play Feb. 29 at Central Hardin High School.
