  • LaRue County has rubber match...

All year long, LaRue County coach Aaron Howell has preached to his Lady Hawks about not letting errors snow ball.

What often followed was a late-game collapse as the Lady Hawks lost eight games in which they led after the fifth inning.
LaRue County finished the regular season averaging one error every 2 1/3 innings, which allowed teams to score an average of 2.89 unearned runs a game.

The first day of the 5th Region tennis tournament brought local teams some wins and some losses, but more importantly, uninterrupted play despite rain showers earlier Friday.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Hawks defeat John...

After his team had blown eight leads in the final two innings, first-year LaRue County coach Aaron Howell thought his Lady Hawks could be in line for another late-game setback May 10 while visiting cousin Corey Yates and his John Hardin Lady Bulldogs.

Instead, the Lady Hawks finally caught a break in the top of the ninth inning as junior shortstop Megan Smith reached base on a no-out error and scored two batters later on a groundout by senior right fielder Cassady Crim as they held on for a 6-5 win.
