  • Lady Hawks win Abraham Slam Jam

    The LaRue County Lady Hawks volleyball team broke their three-game losing streak Saturday, winning their own Abraham Slam Jam Tournament. LaRue won the championship game against Marion County with scores of 25-18, 24-26 and 25-17.  The LaRue girls also beat John Hardin 25-15 and 25-18 and Campbellsville 25-15 and 25-12. In pool play, LaRue beat Taylor County 25-16 and 25-23 and Washington County 25-18 and 25-20 but lost to Spencer County 22-25 and 16-25.

  • Lady Hawks making progress...

    The Lady Hawks varsity soccer team won its first game of the season 6-1 Monday against Monroe County.

    The team has struggled as it has been hampered by a small roster and injuries.

    The team has 17 members – mostly underclassmen.

  • High school football update

    After playing on two consecutive Saturdays, LaRue County's varsity football team took a bye week before beginning its Friday night lights portion of its schedule.

    The Hawks, 1-1 on the season, will face an undefeated Green County team on the road Sept. 11.Green County topped Butler County 41-7 in its latest game and also has victories over Middlesboro and Taylor County.

    Season passes are available for sporting events at LaRue County High School.

    Football passes are $10 for students and  $20 for adults. All-sports passes cost $50 for students and  $100 for adults. Family passes are $150.

    Little league girls’ basketball sign-ups will be 5-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the high school cafeteria. Teams will be formed for kindergarten through sixth graders.

    Cost is $35 per player. A family discount is available.

  • Lady Hawks on hot streak after...

    The competition was tough at Fort Knox Aug. 25, but the Lady Hawk volleyball team pulled out a hard-won victory (25-20; 25-18) over the Lady Eagles of Fort Knox.

    “We had a difficult time with Fort Knox. I have several girls who are sick and who were coughing on the sideline throughout the match but we still focused and did what we had to do to win,” said Coach Ben Schell.

  • Hawks fall in Pigskin Classic

    The LaRue County Hawks came up short in Saturday night’s Pigskin Classic against the North Hardin Trojans. The Hawks fell 32-6 in their first home game of the season.

    “(North) is a very quick team and will make you cover them from sideline to sideline,” defensive coach Josh Jaggers said.

    The Trojans run a spread offense and use an aerial attack that is countered by a running game. Usually in a spread offense, it’s the running game that is countered by a passing attack. North had 336 yards passing and 104 yards rushing.
