  • Panthers fold under Hawk attack

    The LaRue County Hawks ruined Elizabethtown’s homecoming Friday, taking away a 35-7 win. The victory brought LaRue’s record to 4-1.

    Assistant coach Josh Jaggers’ Hawk defense kept Elizabethtown wondering if they were even going to cross the goal line. LaRue held Elizabethtown to only 208 total yards.

  • Hawks blast Elizabethtown 35-7

    LaRue County won its third straight and fourth time in five tries this season 35-7 at Elizabethtown. The victory also spoiled the Panthers' homecoming celebration.

    LaRue has one 10 of its last 13 varsity football games with Elizabethtown.

    The Hawks got three touchdowns and 103 yards rushing from Alex Lee. The Hawks' ground attactk gained 258 yards on the night. Marquis Cobb and Jordan Brewer also scored rushing touchdowns for LaRue.

  • Carrie Warren competes in Ironman

    Since she took up running to help her lose weight 10 years ago, Carrie Warren has progressed from jogging a couple of miles near her home at Ovesen Heights to mini-marathons and then to marathons, including New York City’s famous race.

    She stepped up big time, however, Aug. 30 when she completed her first Ironman. The Ironman includes three grueling parts – a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile bicycle ride and then a 26.2-mile marathon run.

  • Lady Hawks defeat North Hardin

    Lauren Patterson spelled doom for the North Hardin Lady Trojans Sept. 14.

    With the junior middle hitter behind the service line, the LaRue County Lady Hawks went on an 8-0 run in the first game and a 13-0 run in the second as they cruised to a 25-11, 25-10 victory over the homestanding Lady Trojans.

  • Elementary students compete at...

    To say that this year’s Hawks’ junior varsity golf team, like its varsity counterpart, is young is quite an understatement.

    “Our youngest player is in second grade and our oldest is in the eighth grade,” said Jorge Venegas, jayvee coach and assistant varsity coach. “When we play other schools’ JV teams, their players are much older and have been playing longer.”

    Still, he says his youngsters are undaunted by the competition and continue to improve.

  • Lady Hawks will host middle...

    The LaRue County Middle School girls’ basketball team will host the district tournament Saturday, Sept. 26.

    The seventh-grade teams play that morning with the Lady Hawks battling Hart County at 11:30 a.m. The winner will play the victor of the Caverna and Green County match-up at 4:15 p.m.

    The eighth-grade teams begin play at 2:30 p.m. when the Lady Hawks play Hart County. The winner will play the victor of the Green County and Caverna match-up at 5:45 p.m.

    All games will be six-minute quarters and played in the high school gym.

  • Hawks fight back, defeat...

    LaRue County and Glasgow traded punches at the end zone Friday night in Glasgow, but it was the Hawks that seized the opportunity with seconds on the clock to put the Scotties away 28-24.

    “We had to keep the ball moving,” running back Alex Lee said,” the line did a really good job blocking tonight. They stepped it up from the Green County game.”

    Lee led the Hawks in rushing with 143 yards and a touchdown scamper from 20 yards out.
